i'm quite sure that a gt35r would be fun to have on a stock motor but it would not be the safest idea in regards to longterm useage. Unless you like the sound of Boooom, clink clink, burrrrr plipppll!!

Look at going twin scroll. AFI makes a great kit. It will be the most streetable. I have had a gt35r on stock block. I wish for stock I would have gone 20G at the time. In your case BBK or FPRED. Unless you plan in the future to build your block.
Its not that the stock block cant handle it, it just that the turbo will never see its full potential therefore making it a waste of time and money. You will only see true gains with a motor that can handle its power/high boost long term.
Same goes for big cams, without head work/porting, your not going to see full gains that the cams could have.
Also Race Gas, without tuning you will never see the true limit of the fuel.
But if you are planing on upgrading the motor why not, I would still stay twinscroll for response.
Good Luck

I have some vids of my car in action with the HTA35R .63 which I regulate to 30psi on 93 octane and 500awhp
I just upgraded to the buschur 2.0L, stage 3 head and BF 272 cams and picked up another 100awhp on pump and now I've gone to the HTA86 turbo.

what does that have to do with turbo sizing?
just run less boost to make a safer power level is all you have to do is avoid that noise your talking about lol.

thank you very much for your info.
HTA should help with any lag. they say I should have full spool 3400-4000 on a 2.0

more like 4500-5000 on a 2.0 with the HTA 35R
I saw 10psi by 3500 and 20psi by 4500 then it would jump up to my 30psi set boost quickly after that.

im using a precision pt 61 turbo wich is vary similar to a 35r. Full boost is around 5k. Im making 442 on a mustang dyno. I ran an 11.6 at 120. My car has the 6 speed tranny wich is hurting my trap speed. Ps I have 64k miles now and she is holden up like a CHAMP!

Full Race!!!
i have been on a stock motor for some time now using GT35r type turbos. The stock motor is definitely reliable at moderate boost levels. I have been fortunate enough to have experienced the twinscroll turbos Full Race is offering. Borgwarner's new offerings provide a great alternative to Garrett equivalents, while also being cost effective.
Twinscroll makes those bigger turbos more livable, the transient response is
impressive to say the least. I am able to get full spool around 4200 rpm while creating the same peak power as single scroll turbos. If drivability is a focus rather than 1/4 mile peak power, look into the twinscrolls Full Race is offering.
Also I believe there is a sale on there kits

What evidence do you have to support this. I've had a 35r type turbo for almost a year of abuse and no issues. If you know what you are doing and take care of the car, you have nothing to worry about.
