Car "Cutoff" Power in 3rd at 5k RPM

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this.

I did my first track day on oct 2nd, i was coming around a turn in 3rd to pass the the guy in front of me. So I gave it gas, go to about 5k RPM and then the power, whatever cutoff.

Could this be because I need a tune?

I'm just lookin' for some infos.

Thank you.
