Several doubts about evo VI TME
Hi guys, i thought to post in here so i can get expert advises.
Right now i own an EVO VI TME, my actual setup is GT35R turbo, 750cc injectors, walbro FP, Huge FMIC, DNP exhaust manifold, 3.5" race downpipe and all the supporting mods.
As i still have the stock ECU, i had to install a fuel cut defencer to the MAF, boost cut in this model is MAF reading based, so i can boost more than 1.2 BAR, but fuel compensation is limited to about 480 WHP. Thats how much i'm pushing right now. (G-Tech Pro RR measured).
Well, here's the deal, i had some missfire at 1.3 bar, so gapped plugs to 0.65mm, missfire was solved and was abble to boost 1.7 bar. I know it's not the REAL solution, i know i need an ignition amplifier and i was looking at the HKS DLI2 amplifier, vendors says it for the EVO VIII +, and i need to know if it fits the EVO VI wiring. Plug n' Play would be ideal, but if a wiring change is needed, theres no problem, i can do it, but i need to know if i can use it.
That's my first doubt, my second one is that i need any kind of engine management, but here i really want a plug n play option.
Unfortunately there are no specific EVO VI parts for sale in USA, so i have to addapt to VII + parts.
Guys, i would really aprettiate your help, it's my only information source and i know there are plenty guys in here that know al lot about EVOs.
I'll be waiting for some answeres.
Thanks al lot.

Good luck is all I can say. With the JDM ECU our USDM spec parts may not like eachother too well. Ive never worked on anyhting below a VII but I wish I could help.

Tuning a 4-6 Here in the US is a problem, I've tried working with an E8-Ecu numerous times, and from what i've read oversea's a simple pin switch at the ecu solves the problem, but not here with the US spec E8 Ecu's, the immoblizer just gets in the way...Anyway, my goal was to just flash an E8 Ecu and run it...i realise that wont work for your application but my point is, that with this simple pin swap, which involves the main fuel relay being swaped with AC on an E7-9 car, you should be able to get the car running with an AEM, if that appeals to you, with reguards to the HKS Ignition amplifier...it will work just fine...the coil-pack set up is identical for all mitsubishi 4-cylinder cars that i've worked with, Mirage 1.8, Lancer 2.0, Evo...etc etc etc...same coils, same connectors, same pin layout...yada yada

another possible solution is to check the UK forums, and ask them for parts as well. it's also so much easier to communicate w/ them as well.

the HKS Dli version is swappable .. I've the harness for the older VI engines .. and the difference is simply a small plastic plug in the center of the adaptor .. I think it's a guide channel .. for the VII/VIII I have to remove mine to fit .. but it fits with no problems .. probably you can do the reverse ..
I believe the flash can be used on the VI TME .. just need to verify it
Good luck .. the TME is one of the best models of the Evos (lightest and most responsive of the series)
BTW your OE turbo is different from the rest of the mainstream and the same as mine
