low power for a tuned evo?
Okay so my bros car was just tuned and it has 272 int and exh cams. walbro 255, turboxs turboback with factory cat, bigger front mount, intake and boost controller set to 19 psi. His final power was at 270 ish at the wheels(dyno jet). We think it seems too low. Any input appreciated

thats probably about right, your only at 19 psi and you don't have a high flow cat/test pipe, or a down pipe.....

Remove the cat, and turn up the boost to 21-22 psi.

It actually had a downpipe its just mated to the factory cat. What kind of power should he expect with raised boost to 21-22 psi? and would that be safe on 92 octane pump gas? thanks for the quick response

That is a bit low. What year is your car. I have an 03, when I did my tune,I had a turboback exhaust, intake and ebc at 21 and stock everything else. I made 286 hp and 265 trq. on a mustang dyno. You having cams and should definately make more than me.

On a dynojet you should be making much closer to 300 whp. I don't think the stock cat will affect it that much.

No offense but using a factory cat is the most ridiculous performance decision ever.
Get a high flow random technology cat at the least, or a resonated test pipe for optimum power and the resemblence of a cat.

At least change the factory cat to a high flow cat to help with the air flow. I had a magnaflow high flow cat on my car and put down 321 awhp. Than I switched to the straight pipe and put down 332...so the high flow cat isn't as restrictive as I expected. But factory cat Also I am running 21 boost.

Ridiculous unless you care about legality and the environment
BTW - in cali they are really craking down on people who modify exhausts and it is no joke when they give you one of them smog tickets (I know they gave me one)
While I like high power as mush as the next guy, (and would not put a cat on my own car, it is not irrational to follow the law and mainatin the factory cat - not everyone is a law breaker

hey Al do you think your mail in reflash will make more power than the current tune. 268 whp just seems way low. how much power does your mail in flash put down on a dynojet? Thanks in advance

I'm actually in the process of putting my car back to stock... my exhaust ticket lead to smog check. and now I have to go back to stock... but not taking out the 272 cams and 255fp. i wonder what kind of hp i'll make... damn i can't wait to leave cali..
