EcuTek, 2nd ECU
Just a noob question but what keeps you from buying an extra ECU, and putting an ECUTek flash on that ECU, then putting your stock ECU back in before going to Mitsu for service? Please be gentle......

Then wouldn't that be the better way to go, then you wouldn't have to worry about Mitsu finding out? How much does an ECU cost?

Like $500 - $800.
All you would need to do is have the ECU flashed back to stock if you were worried about the dealer finding out. Then flash it back to the prior setting once you've done what you need to do at the dealer. However, that's assuming the dealer would even know it was flashed in the first place - which they wouldn't.

couple of stupid questions....
1.) Is the ECU out of a IX?
2.) Does the 8 and 9 use the same ECU?
3.) Does the key on the 9 have an immobilizer that is married to the stock ECU? If so then if you put a different ECU in the car might not start with the same key.
oh and of course how much?

8/9 ecu's are different. the key is learned to the computer, you would have to get the key programmed to new computer too which dealer will prolly not do, best chance "what i did on my 04" was call out a key guy out of yellow pages and have him come out and program key to new computer.
