Cannot Read From EVO x GSR with SST
Cannot Read From EVO x GSR with SST
I read mainly all exesting threads on evolutionm and other websites to see what my problem was and tried everything with No Luck.
I live in Doha, Qatar. I got a brand new 2009 EVO X with SST Gearbox. It has only 10K on it and never been tuned, also never been services outside the dealer.
I got the Openport 2 from Tactrix and the Evoscan software. it is working fine and was able to log all the data.
But when i tried downloading the ROM on my laptop using ECUFLASH i always got unknow error.
At first it says that it was locked and i used the unlocker. Now it is not saying that it is locked anymore and still have the unknow error.
Saw your thread about bad connections, low battery voltage and all of that, and did everything mentioned there and still have the same issue.
I did a print screen for the log if you can take a look at it and tell me what the problem is.

Sorry noob question but I tried to read my ecu today using ecuflash and when I appeared to be locked out of it I downloaded the ecu unlocker(which I am unsure if this is running correctly but this is as far as I get:

Ive got a weird issue, When I run ECU flash in the 1.42 version I can open and edit my tunes, but I cannot read or flash. If I run the 1.43 version I can read and flash but I cannot edit the tune or ecu flash crashes. Any Ideas?

hi....
I have two problems with ecu flash and my tuning stay freeze.
First the pop up window with vehicle type is empty.
Second I download the ecu image with other laptop but when i open the image with ecu flash some values are 'I think' are not correct. Take a look on rpm and load engine values.
RPM: 395, 461, 2559.., 1364.., 2559...,1406..., 105, 0, 39,78,117,156,195,234,273.
LOAD: 41,43,47,50,53,56,59,62,66,69,72,74,78,80,204...,1 09...,204...,112...
ecu id: 96260007
Thanks Haris.

I'm having an issue with reading rom with EcuFlash. I have literally tried everything. I'm using OpenPort 2.0 cable. EcuFlash 1.42.2595.
Sends the 4 init codes and then fails. I've tried using the AktiveMatrix ecu unlocker to no avail. I'm not sure if it is even working? I know it just pops open a window, but can anyone verify that perhaps it doesn't work with Win7? I've tried several different versions of EcuFlash, old and new. Also tried logging with EvoScan for the hell of it. Nothing connects. Checked the pins on the ecu, all good. Battery voltage is fine, I even hooked up a battery charger to the car to rule it out. All accessories are turned off. Tried every possible sequence of starting the unlocker program, then ecuflash, then turn the key on, etc. etc.
Also, I'm unable to start the car, it just cranks. I'm leaning towards it being something physically wrong with the board in the ECU. I bought it from a member on here so I don't know the background on it, not going to name names because I'm not blaming the seller, just trying to figure out if this ECU is going to work and go from there.
This *is* an ecu from a 2004, I'm trying to use it in a 2005 but I don't think that should matter, I just want to read the rom, save it and flash a universal tephra rom on it.
To top it off, I have ruled out my hardware 99.9% of the way. My laptop, ecuflash, evoscan, cable, etc. all work fine in my car, just when swapping in this ecu is when things don't work. I've tried this ecu in 2 different cars(both 2005 evos), neither one will allow ecuflash to read the rom or get the car to start.
Anybody have any ideas before I go and build a damn bench so I can bench test this thing and maybe try to fix/flash the rom in the ecu that way?

Actually I have tried to read the ecu when the car was running too...and with the ecu-unlocker running at the same time. I have tactrix 2.0 cable, and cannot read the ROM whatever.
