speed density

Hi well i am pretty new to evos and i wanted to get my car tuned to make sure it is all good. The problem i have is i went to this shop and they just popped my hood and said i had alot of things to fix befor they would touch it. it is tuned on speed density it has no MAF sensor and a bta bov. The shop wants me to put the MAF and a recirculating bov back on it befor they will even touch it and tune it, which make me have to change it alot. It has defi boost guage, AEM wide band, greedy profecb boost controler, HKS turbo timer, gt35r turbo, 3.5" intercooler, intercooler piping, tial 50mm bov, 38mm wastegate, injectors, hks cams, supertec duel valve springs and retainers, arp headstuds. So with everything do you think i should change everything and tune it their way or keep with speed density. If keeping with speed density does anyone no a good tuner in MD, PA area. Thanks

Depends on what SD ecu it's running. Is it stock ecu patched to SD, or an AEM/Apexi Power FC standalone?

Sounds to me like you need to find a better tuning shop...have you tried talking to CBRD? They're in the York PA area, good solid crew there.

Then learn to tune it yourself. That shop doesn't know what's going on, so don't have them touch your car.

If you're already converted to speed density that's a good thing. Run with it and away from that shop.

I hope you aren't going to AMS....
Take a trip up to CBRD, they will help you out. It sounds like you have a good setup and nothing should be changed.

Tune it yourself (Way easier than its made out to be), or at least get Learn about tuning. I got punked by a couple tune shops already.

Not going to list names but It surprising what a some big name tuners will tell you.

^ Tuning is not for everyone, big mistakes can be made. Let the pro's handle it and when you're ready look into tuning yourself.

Exactly what ^ he said, if your timing is too agressive on just 1 pull say good bye to that pretty little motor, leave the tuning to professionals, especially since it sounds like your not the type of guy that can rebuild their own motor in the driveway lol

personally I would stick with SD. SD has been nothing but great for me it has to do with the person behind the keyboard tuning the car. And Im sure with that 35r adding the maf would restrict a little airflow.

we have no issue tuning it on SD, if the setup is proper,

we are concerned about the integrity of how the car is setup, it came to us once before (from a dealership) and we told them we didnt want our name on it.

Most dealers will bring us cars to fix some small things then they said "work done by cbrd" when all we did was make the car run properly for them to sell it, we didn't do the previous work on it.
