96530706-V7, possible problem found.
Hi guys,
Well I finally have something to contribute. It seems as though a problem has been found but I could be wrong, figure I'd post it just in case someone else runs into it.
I had a friend send me the above ROM because it would not start in his 2004 EVO. I checked to see if the Immobilizer Hex was set correctly and the immobilizer code. I then sent the ROM back to him and it still would not start, no fuel pump prime, nothing.
I then thought to check the valet features, non were activated. Then thought maybe we should try to disable the Immobilizer. Another friend of his thought of the same thing and changed the immobilizer disable and the car started.
Here is the problem. I check the "for immobilizer function diable set to 0" and it was set to 0, telling me it should have been disabled. Setting this to "1" allowed the car to start.
Isn't that backwards?
If not or whatever, if any of you have a problem you may want to try that.
Thanks for any input and hope this proves to be helpful.
BTW, if you read this Tephra, you have a paypal payment

EDIT: I'm still wrong....
It's the logical opposite of what you're thinking. I agree, it's badly labeled.
If you think of it as "Enable Immobilizer", then 1 is on and 0 is off. In reality it's "Do you want to disable immoblizer", 1 is yes and 0 is no.
I hope that makes more sense. Again, it's not something that the ecuflash community has created. That logic is from the factory. All we can be blamed for is a silly label. :-p

When you enable (1) and then disable (0) the Immob the first time you turn it off, you will still have to go through the motions with the starting procedures as if it were enabled.
I found this out on my car.

Wait a minute, my car will not start with this bit set to "1" for obvious reasons (evo 8 ecu in a 2g dsm) but when i set it to 0 it starts up just fine. I was also under the impression that setting the immobilizer bit to 0 would disable the use of the immobilizer feature. I though that's how it worked and why it was labled that way in the table.
