AEM wideband and EvoScan issues
Hello Everyone, I just hooked up my AEM wideband. The wideband works fine but when I try to log it using evoscan, the logging table for WIDEBAND gets stuck at the same number in about 3-4 seconds into the logging process. So 3-4 seconds of regular loging, and the just stops at a number, like 14.5 all the way down.
Anyone ever experience this?
When I soldered the blue cable to pin 2 I didn't solder anything to pin 5 because I read it was not needed. Could this be the issue? Should I just take a regular wire and solder it to pin 5 and just ground it in the car somewhere?
Thanks

Do you have pin 5 soldered on?
I'm using this cable:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812150046
Let me know if getting the new cable works.
Anyone else?

You do need ground connected to pin 5 since the (virtual) serial port in your PC needs a ground reference for the serial data stream (confirmed by the link to the AEM Installation Instructions PDF contained in the link I posted below). Connecting it to anywhere in the car may work, but ideally it should be connected to the ground connection on your AEM (it's probably easiest/neatest to route it that way too, since you are already routing the blue wire carrying the serial data stream from there).
Using a USB-serial cable with the same chip inside as the Tactrix cable, i.e. a FTDI chip, should not be a problem. You just have to be careful to select the right virtual serial port in the WidBand (WDB) drop-down menu in EvoScan.
Read this for more info:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/6957804-post2.html
You can also use HyperTerm / TeraTerm / your favorite terminal logging tool to verify the serial data stream coming from the AEM wideband.

THANKS!
On question I still have about ground. Do I just tap into the black wire? I mean that EAM black wire needs to be grounded when the usb it no pluged in right? So going directly from the gauge to pin 5 would not really work correct?
Currently I'm using the ground from the cig lighter, if I just take another wire and tap into that I should be good?

The black wire from the AEM still needs to be grounded whether you are using the serial data stream or not. Tap into the black wire (or connect to the same ground point the black wire is connected to) for the ground for the serial data stream.

So just finished solderig the ground to pin 5. Same results. Wideband logs for about 4 seconds and stops.
So what usb to serial adapter is everyone using that works?

EvoKid is correct.
The first page actually has the download link.
EvoScan v2.6 And New EvoScan GPS/Logger/Reflashing Touchscreen Review
Once you download it, you get 2 files, the evoscan.exe on and the data file. I just copied and pasted both files over the existing ones and works fine. Just be warned, I had to redo my setting in evoscan.
