Boost Tuning Help

Hey, I just flashed Tephra v7 on, rom id 96530706 onto my Evo which was a 96940011. I took it for a spin around the block to see what boost it would hit with all the stock values, psi boost control, gear dependent wgdc set to 0 across the board, and boost desired psi set to 0. Doing a couple quick runs it was hitting 15psi and holding with little fluctuations. This is running the stock boost solenoid.

I decided to edit the tables and do another run, and it was the same story. I am probably missing something obvious, but any help would be appreciated. Here is the log (put the important info together), and my boost settings.

My first run was with the desired PSI set to 7.0 in the upper rpms because I thought you added the 7 to the 14.5, after logging that it was the same exact thing with 15psi logged, but with fat wgdc-corrections all over the place. So thats when I put the desired boost to 21 and the log above shows little to no correction, but not achieving the boost.

I figure something is off that I have missed. I had my car tuned on the stock map fine (23psi-20psi taper), but I am a noob to psi based control and tephra v7, and I can't quite get this to work.

how does ur BDEL look?

also when tuning you should remove the TBEC (zero them out) after u dial in boost then put them back in.

i am not familiar with the psi model myself, but the boos adder is ur atmospheric pressure~ 14.7

if u want 21 psi then you need to put 21 psi in the WGDC map.

BTW 15psi sounds like WG boost.

Alright, so the boost adder part is correct; 14.5 is my atmospheric pressure.

Cannot put 21 psi in the WGDC map, that is for % to achieve 21psi. I have it set, as shown in the picture 70-60-50-60-70 as a base to see what that would achieve, and I got what is shown in the datalog above.

When I put the values into the BDE-Psi tables it automatically computed them for BDEL.

Here is a new picture showing BDEL and the load based boost adder. I still haven't zeroed the BEC tables, but will before I log again.

cool text is a bit small in the text. make sure your boost cut is on just the right amount to prevent overboosting.

At the WGDC shown I was hitting like 15 psi, so I upped it to 85% and I hit 18psi. I probably have some boost leaks I need to fix.

After seeing how crappy the stock boost solenoid is, I am scrapping it for a 3 port. Just trying to decide which to get, GM with a pnp setup, or a EGR solenoid.

go with the 3 port, there is thread showing that its the best BCS.

i think u got a major boost leak, check ur stock BOV.

You are using A STOCK BCS which is not capable of controlling more than 20-21 psi at 100% duty cycle with stock boost lines and pill.

Upgrade to the Pierberg 3 port.
