Rich Idle questions.

I know its a noob question... But what is the preferred Idle AFR? At idle my car reads between 10.1 through 10.9. At cruise I get from 12.5 through 15.7. I changed the front O2 like 8 months ago, but the idle has always been at the same numbers.
Don't know if you need a list of my mods... so here they are,

HTA35R
264/272 HKS Cams
Upper and Lower IC pipes from buschur
Full race IC from buschur
Stock MAF
Walbroh FP
HKS Hi power TB
Perrin down pipe
Cat Delete pipe
1000cc injectors
SAFC 2 (all zeroed out)
Tial BOV and waste gate

I had the car tuned at AMS after I put in the new O2, but the Idle AFR never changed. Could it be that I don't have a recirculating BOV?

Any help would be appreciated.

boost/vacuum leak.

meaning somewhere after the MAF sensor, u need to do a boost leak test.

there is one in the how-to section. i am suprised AMS did not do one, you should take it back and let them run one.

Is your BOV open all the time and closes during pressure?

Sounds like you have a boost leak pre-thottle body, which could be the BOV, or any coupler anywhere after the turbo.

I would look into switching to Speed Density on the stock ECU to help you with idleing issues on your setup. However please read, read, read so you understand some issues you might run into with SD.

The link in my signature will direct you towards the EVO 8 SD ROM to help you and all the links you need to follow to understand it.

SD is a good idea in ur car especially with the level of mods. apparently AMS has started offering a package or u can DIY - there are some problems but i think the advantages outwiegh those.

BTW switching to SD will not solve ur problem, u will idle @ 14.7 but u will lose power through the boost leak.

Good point! I didn't mean SD would solve his problem I was just suggesting him to look into it with the level of mods he has.

Do a boost leak test just to make sure. Also make sure you test those TB shaft seals too!

I was reading on the SD, but some guy in cali was having issue when the temp dropped 30 degrees. I'm in god forsaken Iowa and the lows here get low.

I made the boost leak test thing, and when I tested it a few months back I thought I had a leak, but stupid me, forgot to seal the end of the UIC. I'll try the boost least test this weekend when my wife gets back from SAC. She left me for 2 weeks for an A+, Net + and security + course. She left me with our 6 month old. Fun times.

Now, since I am running rich, would that have caused my car to flood? I started it up twice this past week and last night it would turn but wouldn't start, so I removed the spark plugs, turned it 2ice and waited for it to air out. After I put the plugs back in, it started just fine.
The reason I'm thinking that, is because sitting on a rich Idle for 10 minutes the engine didn't burn all the fuel in there causing it to flood.

How hard is it to install the SD? I'm pretty handy, I just don't want to get in over my head since my car is my daily driver. I have over 130K miles on it.

Yeah that's why I wanted you to read, SD is easy just need to follow the tuning guide and read on it.

If you have a leak, you should be lean at idle by sucking in air that isn't metered.
