Might take them a few weeks, i've been religiously working on this since mid December with one of my software enfgineers and have it running... just want to have hard evidence and a few more road miles to prove it's reliability.

Instruction change?

So I am getting ready to install my JDM MAP sensor (thanks mrfred!) and I noticed that the instructions for what to modify in your ROM via ECUFlash have changed. For example, the original instructions for changing the "MAP Scaling Table" were...

43 11
70 20
97 31
124 40
151 48
178 57
205 67
232 80
255 255

Change it to the JDM values:

26 20
46 40
66 57
86 78
106 97
126 117
146 138
166 158
186 255
... but in the first post of this thread they now read...

2.85 138
3.24 158
3.63 255
My ROM still reflects the first set of instructions, so the new values don't really make sense to me. For now I'm just going to follow the original instructions (which I saved to a file for future reference). Any idea on why these values changed? Do I need to change something in my .xml file?

Thanks

Sorry about that. You'll need to update your ROM xml file using the updated table definitions in the how-to. Then the values will show up as described in the how-to. More changes to the how-to are coming over the next day or two also. You can follow the current instructions now, but you'll want to check back in a few days because there may be a few new tables that need to be defined and then modified.

Mrfred, have you any JDM MAP sensors left?

I also noticed the difference in the values in the tables. I was going to install the JDM MAP today, but I will wait a few days until you get done with all the updates. Thanks for the sensor and all the update work.

OK, thanks.

I followed the original instructions tonight when installing the sensor and everything worked great... I'm logging boost perfectly in EvoScan and so far no SES light. I thought I remember reading that the SES light would pop up after the ECU does a test at engine shutdown, but I've stopped and started by car a few times tonight and no SES light.

Does this mean I'm safe or should I be on the lookout for the updated how-to?

Thanks again for the JDM MAP sensor and all your work... HUGE contribution to the Evo community!

EDIT: I changed my "88590015.xml" file to match the how-to and it changed how the values appear in ECUFlash, so I'm all set!

With these mods, I'm not getting any CELs in my Evo 9. Two Evo 9 folks have reported CELs, but one guy hasn't read the code yet (could be something else), and the other found an error in one of the tables that he modified. So, nothing concrete yet.

Instructions have been updated to include Evo 8 9417008 and 94170014 ROMs. If you don't see your ROM in the list of ROMs (this is a USDM-only mod), please email it to me, and I will find the tables.

I'm now looking again at the '05 Evo 8 and '06 Evo 9 ROMs to see if I can find some additional tables. I may be posting up a few more tables for those ROMs in a few days.

Should I wait for these new tables to be located before installing the sensor on a v.15 IX? are you just looking for the fault code tables?

I won't be changing any of the current values for the IX and '05 VIII ROMs. I will just be adding more tables if I find them. So, no reason not to install it now. The car will work fine. I don't have any CELs, but I'm still looking for the additional tables.

I just installed the JDM MAP sensor and flashed the rom to reflect the changes that mrfred outlined. I started the car and logged @ idle cold. The boost reading is in vaccuum @ -8 or -9. So far so good.

You can also log with the ignition set to "ON" but with the engine off. The MAP sensor should read 0 psi. If its off by more than 0.2 psi, you can change the offset in the EvoScan formula. e.g., if you see -0.5 psi with the engine off, then change 14.51 to 14.0. People within 1000 feet of sea level shouldn't need to do this, but people at higher elevations (CO, NM, UT, etc) may want to check this.
