New user with a few questions

I just got done installing the ECU+ in my 2003 Evo and am having a problem. Ill start off with my mods since most people don't list them.

BR3065 turbo
264/272 HKS cams
3" GM MAF blowthrough
SMC alky
MBC set to 30psi
3" Ext
Tilton clutch
Shep tranny, t-case
780cc injectors

If you look at the logs when I blip the throttle the car backfires and goes lean. Looking back in the logs it looks like the MAF was giving out some false readings. The MAF is de-screened so is that the culprit? LOGS are in the ECU+ site forum.

I have the car running a bit on the rich side for now and still adjusting the MAS settings, if I remember right its set at 37hz. The injector scaling is done via Ecuflash and is set to 550/550 in the Ecu+.

Once I get past this hurdle Im sure the tuning process will move right along since the interface is very easy to use, and it updates immediately.

Just another thought here. I see that some people have the GM MAF turned a different way than I do. I have it set-up like MJ's but some others turn it 90 degrees counter clockwise. Is there any difference in doing it this way?

I know for a fact that the "flow" is in the right direction on mine.

Tom isn't on the fourm anymore. I would take your question to www.ecuplus.com.
They can help you out.

Hi

Taking the screen out may well cause a problem, it might not be the cure for your issue though. The screen helps to striaghten the air flow, then the setup introduces swirls ( vortex ) and the rest of the setup counts these swirls. If you take the screen out the airflow is not setup correctly to be read by the ECU.

The screen is not that restrictive, you might be better re-fitting it.

Eshark-Why is Tom not here anymore?

I went back to a regular MAF set-up. I really dont have time anymore to play with the car. I am also getting rid of the ECU+ since I am heading to an AEM set-up.

dry - I don't see how re-reading you first post is going to help me or you. If you wanted to fix your problem Tom or MJ are the people to help you out. I only was trying to guide you in the right directions.

Burgers - I think this thread is why Tom isn't on. New ECU+ feature: EVO ROM editing and map tracing

Are you saying that the ECU+ cannot accomodate your needs. I was planning on getting one, but you have caused me to rethink.
