ECU+ and Reflashing? Of course!!
I always have people asking me what I use to log data, I tell them primarily I log using the ECU+, additionally I fine-tune my car with it, then they ask why..
Here's Why..
- Very accurate readings, MAF values aren't clipped at 1608hz
- BOOST LOGGING with a $12 GM sensor
- EGT Logging if you add the hardware for it
- It has an OBD-II Scan tool that can read and reset the CEL
- Rear O2 simulator that works 100%
- Directly integrates analog wideband output from popular UEGO units into logging and doesn't require a serial interface to do it..
- BLOWTHROUGH MAF CONVERSION
- On a stock MAF, cars sometimes have trouble idling due to bigger turbos or cams altering airflow making it unstable.. the ECU+ can fix that by clamping the idle value
There's just so much stuff that works..
For me the logging alone made it worth the money, the built in dyno feature also helps alot.
Okay, for you guys using the ECU+, how has this helped you? Show your support for an amazing product.. When it comes to doing things the right way, you do get what you pay for.
Hopefully Tom will chime in on some interesting upcoming features that can make this already great tool an even better one.

I also use this combo........great tool, great creator. Tom works his ass off for us to be happy. I love the fact that I can try changes in ECUPlus first and then transfer them over to my ROM once Im sure the changes work. Also a nice bonus is getting my stock ECU to run great on pump and then save a race gas file in ECUplus for my drag runs.
*edit* Using Only ECUplus I went from 12.4 @ 112 mph to 12.1 @ 114.7 mph nice gain over my custom flash I think

Yeah thats been my whole point, after you do a base flash, you can try new settings or create new tunes for it..
I use the "Fuel" portion of it to make adjustments to the MAF curve and fix the minor issues with my MAF sensor and coverter electronics.. I have a real conservative timing map in the car, I then can test different levels of added timing until I know exactly what I can get away with.. then I can alter my reflash.
Its really the best tool for the job considering it has much better logging than other products out there, plus it has most of the features of the popular piggybacks.. Additionally you can read and reset OBD-II (and I think even high-speed MUT Logging is on the horizon which I am hoping can be incorporated in the regular logging) without needing to keep your Tactrix cable connected.
If I could figure out the protocol used for the streaming logging, I would release a "Dashboard" that displays this data on an inexpensive VFD/LCD display..

Jack, I agree with another point you made, setting my MAF minimum to 48 HZ solved a lot of my driveability problems and once I get off my butt and get a blow thru set up installed I think Ill be even happier. My HKS RS intake seems to do lots of odd things to my airflow readings at idle. Now if Tom gets that P0300 deal worked out Ill be even happier with the system. On the bright side I have an 04 so I still have 1 more year until my inspection requires an OBD II plug in. You hear me TOM 1 year to fix the P0300 !! LOL

I'm pretty sure 90% of the time the P0300 code may not be related to the ECU+ (offtopic for this thread) But a lean transition into open loop.. Thats typically something that needs to be adjusted in the ECU maps, and carefully transitioning your timing and fueling..

P0300 isn't that the clutch or the vibration of the motor

No that is the random multiple cyclinder missfire code. Some people used to get it from time to time without the ecu+. I never did. With ecu+ though I was getting it every day.... Till beta 5 came out that is.
Have not gotten it once since installing beta 5 a couple weeks ago.

In some cases it was.. In this specific case some of us experienced it due to the ECU+
In my specific case, it was a periodic tip-in lean condition moving from a standstill before the air intake temps and oil were up to temp. This was probably unrelated to the ECU+ even though it never occurred before then.

MJ,
I'm can't read my ECU with ECUflash. I used it on 3 other Evo's. Can ECU+ interfere with the signal? Has anyone else had this problem? Do I have to disconnect the ECU+ everytime I want to flash the ECU?

Check your ECU+ documentation, I think it explains how to remove the jumper or wire a switch to disable it when needed.

Anyone know what the difference is between an ECU+ for an Evo VIII and an Evo IX that justifies the $200 price difference?
EDIT: Nevermind, the harness is the difference in cost.

Also forgot to mention ECUPlus is great for tunning out small jumps in AFR at WOT because of its resolution. Example a small spike to 12.0 AFR at 4250 but the 4K and 4.5K AFR's are spot on so I dont want to touch my ROM settings. Just go into ECUPlus under the WOT table and add a % or two of fuel there. Works great for me, makes everything nice and smoooooooooth.
