banging from the rear during quick shifts

If I get on it in 1st and shift quick and pop the clutch there is a bang or thud you can feel from the rear. Its similar to dumping the clutch on a rear wheel drive car with slicks. Is this just from good traction and hooking up or is something wrong? I just got my EVO and dont know what to expect.

I am not 100% but the AMS mustache eliminator bar might solve your problem.

all evos do this. the solution is just poly bushings for the rear differential, or just shift a hair slower.

I have the same problem, but only when it's cold. When I've been driving around for awhile it goes away.

I eliminated A LOT of thing banging after replacing the front/tranny mount. Before doing so it would lift the front of the engine so much that the driveshaft would "slap" into the carrier bearing. It was so violent that some of my passengers say it feels like a sledgehammer hitting the back of the seat.

Thanks thats good to know because it feels like I am going to break something if I do it too often.

Is there a downside or any negative effect to using the poly bushings?
