Best Way to fix Rear end Clunk
So as many evo owners.. my rear end makes that horrific clunking noise when banging into gears. The car does get tracked when the season is good and other than that i just daily drive it. The car has 40k on it now and i was wondering what you guys think is the best economical approach to fixing the rear end clunk???
i read into this a bunch and keep hearing pro's and cons about the mustache bar eliminator and a few other approaches.
i have no issue doing some rebuilding and using poly bushings if this will solve the problem, on a past car of mine i did a full drivetrain upgrade with a built rear diff and all brand new solid bushings, also while the subframe was off the car i got it powdercoated and when everything went back together the drive train was solid
the car still has stock engine mounts and stock rear diff parts etc....
let me know what you think the best thing to do to help or eliminate this noise???
thanks

i plan on down the road getting the BR mustache bar and BR aluminum rear diff side supports but one thing that helped alot was NLTS Patch for my ecu...i would get the loudest clunk from my rear diff (exedy twin hd, SS upper and lower clutch lines, clutch pill removed, underhood bushing kit) but now with the NLTS patch i can bearly hear the clunk...my guess is that the NLTS patch took away alot of drivetrain shock...

Shift more smoothly. Urethane bushings all around should take care of it. I wanna get rid of all the rubber in all my mounts sometime. Right now I have the tephra nlts and it doesn't do it unless I drop the clutch at the wrong rpm. If I take it to 7k and bang the next gear its smooth. I haven't heard it in awhile just from working on my clutch engagement

but the issue is at the track.. when pulling 1.65 60 fts and trying to get lower 1/4 mile times id rather not worry bout my rear diff like that

Go with the Buschur Mustache Bar and Aluminum Side mounts. I have them and never hear the clunk with 1.4 60' and running 9s.

try shifting quickly...and NOT hard. Your answer lies in the fact that quick shifts are faster than hard shifts.

it's wise to check the rear axle assembly along with the rear differential to see if there is any play in the parts before adding those fabolous parts.

I have the same, identical issue. I bought my car a week ago and experience the same exact bucking noise seemingly under the rear seat. For all the money these cars cost, shifting style shouldnt be a prerequisite. Anyone know the best place to get these solution parts? The clutch was upgraded when I bought it. I DO love the car but this noise is unsettling.
Any help would be appreciated.

OH hell do they ever.
Ive ridden in cars that have the sold bushings from buschur.
Not cool for a DD unless you want to have a conversation with your rear end as you accelerate and decelerate.
