Depends on how you drive it. I know people with well over 500whp, and some in 600+whp territory with not a single problem. Then, of course, you have the hand full of people who are in stock form, or simple bolt ons, and they will swear that the transmission is defective.
Honestly, the 6sp MR transmission is extremely smooth, and while not as robust as the 5speed, if you know what your doing, exercise due care, and are not intentionally abusive to the point of being a careless idiot, the tranny can probably hold no more 600-700whp in stock form. This includes stock fluid, and internals of the trans.
Also you have to look at how you drive the car 90% of time, the enviroment in which the car normally operates, and whether or not you contribute to any type of prevenative maitenance.
Keep in mind that the 6 speed is prone to failure from excessive heat. The 6sp hold less fluid then the 5sp. Some people have added make shift coolers, that I believe work well. You can always go the Shep route, as well.

It's a heat issue only surfaces when in high load in gears 4th and up for extended periods of time..

It wont blow if you dont abuse it.
The 6 speed would hold 1000 hp power just fine if you dont race long hours at the track like a auto cross event. Drag race the 6spd at the 1/4 should hold just fine like the 5 spd until it can longer handle it too.

Im under the impression that the 6 speed will hold up just like the 5 speed unless you try to kill it, which brings me to a certain question in which im trying to find answers to.......Have you ever heard anyone swapping the 6 speed mr tranny into the evo 8 with a 5 speed? I was thinking about doing it...but it's just a thought....i don''t even know if it could be done. Still learning on my car

It probably can be done but it would be a PITA since your car is an 03. You'd need everything for the ACD, to work plus the front diff, plus the 6-speed. Then's there's all the necessary things to make the 6 speed swap. So it'd probably be a headache.

ACD is just the transfer case and you dont need that for the swap.
What you do need is the 6 speed, shifter base and shifter, cables, and reverse and VSS harness. There is an 03 in the NW that has a 6 speed...my old one
From what I have read the JDM/EDM 6 speed is not the same as the USDM so the rules may not apply. I have been told its a getrag and not an aisin but I am not sure. I will look up the part numbers in CAPS to check right now and repost later.
