I think alot of people (myself included) are WAY paranoid about whining sounds.
I've given up being paranoid, because my whining hasn't gotten any worse and it's not very loud. My suggestion to anybody who thinks they have a whining sound is to first make sure it's not getting any worse. If it starts to progeressivly get worse and worse, maybe you can start to worry. If it's really faint and only you notice it, and need to have the stereo off and windows up to hear it, no need to worry.
I've read about even re-built T-cases whining, and the fact of the matter is, some of them just whine more than others. If you have a whining that sounds literally like a fire siren, you DO have a problem. If it gets louder as you accelerate, and I mean a LOT louder, you probably have a problem. But faint whining that goes away at a certain speed or is only between XXmph and XXmph, chances are, you're good.
But my main suggest is, just wait to see if it gets worse. If it keeps getting worse, faster and faster, start saving.
My Evo and my dad's Evo have the same VERY faint, on-trhottle whine at around 75mph. It goes away with added throttle and higher speeds. The whine hasn't gotten any worse and is fairly quiet. I don't even think he's noticed on his, but when I've driven it, I noticed it and if I was worried, I'd have said something to him about it. Plus, his is 100% stock with a warrenty... I'm jealous
