I hear ya!
This is a couple shots of the work we've been doing on my car to show you the clearance on the bars.
If you care to i will have more pics of the roll bar install in another thread.

Patrick, thanks for posting the pictures. It's not what I am looking for though. The one from John is what I wanted to do but didn't think I could squeeze the bar in and clear the speak.
The trunk springs aren't a big deal to me. I took them out of my RS actually and cut one of them and put it back in, it is a prop rod for the trunk now, no springs in it. I was concerned with losing either the speakers or the actual hinge. I also need to keep the bar as high and to the outside of the car as possible so I can still use the back seats.
I do appreciate the pics, cage looks great, just not what I am after.

Don't retire the RS. To me it's the baddest REAL street EVO on the planet! Waiting on those 8's!

Hey Dave what if you made this slight change in the back...
It would keep the bar to the outside of the car still clearing the seatbelt and speakers.

lokievo, I think that is basically what johnb did in his car, that looks to be the only way to get it done.

That's what we were going to do initally but honestly i think you'd still bonk your head unless you put soo many bends in the rear bar it might look kinda funny and not be as structurally sound.
But i'm sure Dave has the know-how and connections to fab something both functional and amazing at the same time while keeping his creature comforts at the top of the list!

The springs are not very heavy, I didn't weigh them. I used the end bent like a U, put it through the hole in the trunk hinge and put a vacuum cap on the end, it is now a short prop rod that is attached to the hinge.
