DAMN! Almost 11's...

Went to Milan tonight with some friends. Sat around for 3+ hours and only got to make 1 pass which is ultra gay.
The pass itself, however was pretty sweet and I'm fairly impressed with it:

I think maybe some weight redux and we'll for sure see an 11 second pass this year.

Milan was a bit different from National Trail. I'm pretty sure I felt wheelspin out of the hole last night which probably kept me moving a bit better. The first launch at NT, I hooked and bogged, even off a 5800 2-step. so The following runs, I rode the clutch a little more to make sure it could get out. My 60 ft's suffered as a consequence. So this was definitely a better run from the get-go.

Short shift @ 6500. Seems to like it a lot better than rapping it out to 7 or 7500.

Not bad. I think you should be having a higher trap with those mods. It seems like its got a pretty conservative tune.

That would be pretty decent for a stock turbo. You don't need weight reduction for 11s - you just need to get a good run with good driving. That trap is good for 11.8.

i agree with the rest...

for your setup i would expect 11s quite easy even with the 1.74 60ft...

go out again....

Yeah, tune is conservative. Low-mid 11 A/F's at WOT. It's my DD, don't wanna stress it too much. I'm not incredibly worried about getting record timeslips with this thing. I'm just in it to have fun.

Yeah, shifting at 6500 on a big turbo is counter-productive. You should shift at 7500 at least on that big thing.

Low 11s is what we all use - that's not specifically conservative. Being a DD doesn't require a conservative approach, because daily driving doesn't stress the motor at all.

With a Turbo that big you should be reving it to at least 7500.....That trap seems low especially for those mods and that power level. I understand your not out to set records, but if the car makes almost 400whp it should be faster than that. It might be because your not letting it rev out. My stock turbo IX with somewhere around 350-360whp traps what you are and goes 11's and we have the exact same 60'. try reving it out more and shifting a lil faster......Not bad for only getting one run! Keep it up you'll get there.

The car seems to have an issue shifting that high, in that it won't let me nab gears as quickly. I can hit gears much quicker at 6500. It's like at high rpm, it gets hung in the gate for a second or it has to wait for the synchos to catch up. Whatever the case may be, I found that trying to shift it that high was counter productive as I had to wait for the gear to catch up, and subsequently had let the turbo and the engine rev all the way down by the time I got it into gear.

Now that I've started banging gears lower, it seems like it's more prone to let me shift harder at higher RPM's. I haven't really tested it yet, just sticking to what I know works.

I have a track rental in October where I should get a decent amount of runs in. We'll see what happens then. May try revving it out to 7-7500 and see what kind of results we can get.

It's not that the clutch is going out, it's that he is using an ACT HDSS base-level organic single disk with a huge turbo. He should have a proper Exedy Twin HD or equivalent.

I've been told that as well.
Oh well, no use replacing something that still works.
We'll go twin disk after this ACT is finished.
Also told that adjusting the clutch pedal and installing a SS line may help as well. Have the line, just haven't had the ambition to put the line on or try adjusting the pedal yet.
Don't really have the spare cash to toss a clutch in it at the moment...
