New Best MPH!! 1/8 mile Trapped 90.73...
Well, if you guys remember in this post Opinions please! I had a good time but shifted to 4th gear way too early and ruined the run. I only learned that from listening to you guys and watching the video with the volume up loud to hear my engine. I had shifted to 4th about 4-5 car lengths before the light essentially letting out of the run early!
Well I went back with a mission to cut a 7.6 and didn't accomplish that because they treated us street cars like step children and I only got one run while the sun was out. I waited 4 hours after my first run to run again. Then the track was very slippery and I came out of the hole at an angle. That was cool looking but not much fun.
Anyways to get to the point:
Last time at the Drag Strip... I had a 1.662 60ft and ran a 7.824@84.28 (shifted to 4th)
Last night at the Drag Strip... I had a 1.749 60ft and ran 7.851@90.73...
So if I can get the 1.6 60ft and keep it in 3rd I know that the car can get in the 7.6's or better on the stock 9.8 Hotside....
Anyway, I though that I would share my times and open it up for some discussion to the rest of you. Please critique away! You guys are teaching me more and more everytime...
Take care,
-Nate

good job. Holding your revs out really makes the difference. I was trapping low 8's @84-86mph. Once I started holding my revs out and not shifting to 4th. I was traping a consistant 90-91mph and with my horable 60ft., 1.8-1.9, got me into the 7.9's.

Nice Run
Nice run again man, your car is strong. I was worried for a little bit. Glad you listened to me about holding the gear out . Anyway keep it up and I think we will both be knocking on 11's door when we get to a real track.

Hey, Nate, that's some real speed right there. Notice that I hit the 1/8th at 90.87mph on my 12.000 run, but you need to be aware that holding it out in 3rd at the 1/8th-mile won't necessarily be the best thing to do at the 1/4-mile. Hell, I shift to 4th WAYYYYYYYY before the 1/8th-mile. Yes, my 3rd gear is shorter (6spd), and I don't have cams (no need to too high), but I'm well into 4th gear when I hit 90mph (shift around 80mph). You may end up shifting to 4th a little earlier on the 1/4, but once you get a chance, you'll have to figure out what works best.
You're at least as fast as I was on my 12.000s, though, heh...maybe faster, since you have cams to pull harder in 4th.

Warrtalon,
Thanks for the advice!!! It definately helped me to get more out of my EVO. I personaly knew that the car was pretty strong but I felt fruistraited when with a 1.6 60ft it only trapped 84.4 Mph. I feel great now knowing that it was driver error and lack of experience not the car.
BTW, I will have a video to post soon and in the other lane was a cool 350Z guy. He ran a 8.9 (His best of the night).
I hope that you are right about it being close to the 11's if not in there! It does pull hard in 3rd and 4th with the cams. But only time will tell! Maybe soon I can put one of the 11 second symbols in my Avatar...
Take care,
-Nate
