Canadian Insurance Thread

Hi Guys,

So now that Evo 8/9 are growing in numbers in Canada, I think its a good idea to start an Canadian Insurance thread.

What do you pay annually/monthly to get your car on the road? Also, a brief description of your coverages and deductibles!

I will post mine later when I dig up my quote from ICBC.

The reason why its cheaper because the insurance company doesn't register the car as Evolution...it register your year and just LANCER mitsubishi so that is why the insurance is cheap! i have cheap insurance lol i love my evo

My insurance registers it as lancer evolution Gsr/Mr it also states that on my insurance slip. I was actually surprised it was in the system, was hoping they would register it as a lancer

this is another reason why I started this thread.

when we bought the evo back in Jul09, here is what I had:

05 mitsu lancer (no indication that its an evo) + vin#+ foreign import

basic coverage
third party liab 1m
collision 2500 deductible
comprehensive 1000 deductible
total of 1812 on 25% discount, pleasure use.
monthly its at around $150 roughly.

so just wondering, if we get into our accident, will they assess our evos are evos or just a regular lancer?

i hope we can get an insurance agent on here!

The insurance system doesn't register evo 9 as a car..all the people who has listed EVO GSR are actually paying a tad bit more because its listed as EVO 10

Drives: 2006 evo IX mr

mine is reged as a 2006 evo mr
2,000,000
300 and 300 deductables
43% discount $159.90 per month this will drop next month due too insurance fees like new reg, plate etc being on the first payment.

i pay a little more as i reged it under the company . i could save a bit if i go through canada direct insurance.

08 Evo MR, 1 mill, 250, 100, at around $134 a month..... If it was a normal lancer it would have been like $74 a month, i know this as my insurance company made that mistake at first. They know there difference between evo and lancer, i would make sure that your companies know also or else you could be in for a surprise if you make a claim.

Would help to post where you are in Canada - BC's Crown-operated insurance makes it hard to compare to private insurance companies.

Got quoted $2800/yr for 300/300/3mil on 2009 Ralliart... about $230/month I guess. We'll see when I finally get the car.

this is what im worried about. evo x's are normally sold in canada, but for us evo 8 and 9's its totally different because ours were imported from the US.

for some reason mine doesnt indicate as an evo. i should get this sorted out in an autoplan broker.

thanks for your input guys!

Mines $1900, evo 9 MR registered as lancer ralliart on insurance. But in registration papers when imported its a evolution AWD 4dr GSR/MR.
Got hit and made a claim with no problems...
