Not quite; Evos less than 15 years old that weren`t made for the US market are inadmissible until they are over 15 years old. Therefore, any Evo VII and below is inadmissible because they weren`t available for the US market. That would mean only the I-II and the VIII-X are admissible to bring into Canada for road use.

This should help you out.

AFAIK Evo's are made outside North America btw, since you need to know that to figure out how much it'll cost.

OK from reading through this board, ive come to two conclusions. 1) You were not able to have an EVO in Canada in the past, but are now. And 2)some people out there cannot comprehend information that is stated quite clearly. lol.

Anyways, i gotta question some people may answer, or give their opinions. I am just wondering if anyone has a clue how many pre X Evos are in Canada now. Is there any where to find out how many are registered?

Thanks for the help, if anyone knows.

Jay.

PS. You can add one more to the list... I just got my 2003 Evo VIII.

I think most are in the West, although I know of 5-10 in Quebec. I'd hazard a guess and say maybe around 100? 200? (wait, that's 2 guesses :P)

Good question !!! I would love to get the answer too... In the meantime, I was told 300 Evo X in Canada (60 in Quebec province)

But again, this information comes from a dealer so this should be close to reality...

Wicked site. Wicked thread. *waves* Hi .. I'm new.

Evo 8 or 9 admissible to Canada? Wicked! I wonder how much work that is, and how much it'll cost in total.. ballpark figure? I'd like a stock one, but those are hard to find. I wonder if I can bring one in for under 20k?

^haha welcome. you know you used wicked about three times in one post? :P

anyway, you cant get a decent evo imported for under 20g's. you will be looking around high twenties, depending on what evo you set your eyes on.

right now is ez teh best time to import while our CAD dollar is strong relative to USD.

soo if i were you, i will use this site for further research and For Sale threads.

A stockish 03 VIII with high mileage (60K miles and over) in poor/fair condition will be importable for $20K CAD (includes 6.1% duty, GST, ON PST) ... even with the yankee buck surge over the past week. Street price will be about $13-15K USD.

You would probably have to exclude the following from that quota though...

- transportation fees (air/train/bus fare, car shipping, gas, hotel fees, wear and tear)
- fed and provincial inspection fees (RIV fee, MTO fee, e-test, SSC, daytime running lights box)
- misc fees (dealership fees, temp permits, tolls, long distance/roaming, fax, fund transfer)
- intangibles (lost wages, stress, lost vacation, time)

A nice low mileage IX will set you back over $30K.

yeah. $3x,xxx easily.

there is one member who is selling his for mid to high thirties OBO. you might be able to find a canadian-already-imported-evo but its really hard to find a "stock" one.

note that that is a great find. ill see if i can provide the link for you... there is also one in vancouver. the current owner is a mitsu mechanic so you cant go wrong. his is advertised at high twenties but you will have to fly here/ship it/blah blah blah

i hope this helps.

Wow those are quick responses Great community here!

I got super excited seeing a bunch of 03s for sale for ~13-16k. With the strong dollar; PST/GST/duty (19.1%) and miscallenous fees, I wonder how much it'll cost to make road legal here. If it's approx 20k ... I think it's worth the hassle.

I mean, pre X Evos are quite rare here And being able to run with supercars with a 4dr 4cyl "econobox" is suuuuuuuch a fun idea! Wakakaka!

Unfortunately can't afford the IX ... I'm aiming for 20k all in, 25k at most...

//edit: I saw your Evo for sale at TSC, Billy. Beautiful car! But way too much power for me.!

//edit2: I'm planning to drive it back So it has to be a day's drive from home ...

You should be able to get a high mileage fair condition IX RS or GSR non-SSL registered in Ontario for about $27K CAD... I've seen at least one in the high teens.

Yeah, a mid 12's STi is like standing still compared to this animal when it's in full stride.

Question:
Im now looking at the 2010 Evo X GSR, instead of the 2008... I was just in Florida with some evo buds and test drove the new 2010 X... They quoted me 34k with the SSS.. My question is...
The dealer said they have 0% finance! since I live in Canada will I qualify for this? also I wanted to put down 15k USD... will I be able to do this??
Thanks in Advance
