What to do with brake and rotors....

My brakes have always squeaked from since i got my car, and i've gotten quite used to it. However recently i noticed that my car felt different when i stepped on the brakes. It rattled a bit at high speed which made me think the rotor was warped. Also added to my stupidity i never changed the brake pads ever since i got my car and it has 23k miles on it. The front brakes are still in good condition but the my rear brakes are completely gone. Is more pressure applied to rear than the front brakes?

In any case I was going to the deal on Friday anyway for an oil change, and was wondering if i should just have them replace the rotor and brake pads, or just the brake pads and see if they can file the rear rotors. The passenger rear rotor got slightly grooved because of the worn out brakes. Anyone know around how much these things costs? I didn't think i needed to replace this stuff that early until I searched through the forums today. Sigh...

I was thinking if it's cheaper for me to buy rotors and brake pads outside the dealer and then bring it to a shop to install I would rather do that. Anyone near Edison have any recommendations as to a good shop to do this kind of stuff? Usually i just go to the dealer for just oil changes and other misc maintenance stuff but i feel like i could do something better in this case.

brakes are easy... just order them from a vendor on here and do them your self. Just take your time and bleed them. Not only will you save money you will all so feel better that you did them and not some guy who couldnt careless about your car.

what about rotors? i'm hoping turbo trix does the install for that not sure.

Check out the gruppe s stage 2 brake kit. I just got them installed and they feel great. If you need somebody to install them shoot me a pm. I know just the right guy to do the job. He installed mine and does all the work on my car.

Well i don't track my car, it's really just everyday driving around. So i was thinking of getting this. CVR Performance Packages OE Spec Rotor Set w/ Hawk Ceramic Brake Pads.

I looked up what you suggested as well:

well when it says With Hawk HPS$590 is that for a full set of 4? cause it says SP Slotted 1pc Rotors i'm assuming i have to buy 4. I can pm the vendor.

That means they're 1-piece rotors, as opposed to 2-piece.

It's $590 for all 4.

Edit: If you look at the stage 3, it comes with 2-piece fronts, and can actually see the pieces put together.

dude, your going to be so happy to know that for 590 dollars (Legal United States Tender)


you get

4 ROTORS two for the front and two for the rear
2 SETS OF PADS thats one set for the front and one set for the rear. a set of pads consists of 4 pads (2 per caliper/whell if you will.)
4 STAINLESS STEAL BRAKE LINES (again one line for each wheel)
BRAKE FLUID enough to properly bleed your breaks after installation of the lines. this motul fluid is better than the O.E.M fluid


if you were to go to the dealer, pads are 200 a set you need to sets. rotors are un godly expensive. (same price if not more than 2 piece rotors) so basically if you buy that package you are saving over a 1,000 dollars than going through the dealer.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking if the dealer can just file down the rotor then great i'll just pay for the pads and then tkae my time to buy the set and install it. Otherwise yeah if they charge me over 700 i'd definately buy this and have it done elsewhere. I'll just let my stock rotor die in that case.

Thanks BlackDemon, I'm going to take your road. I just got a call from the dealer as an estimate if i had to replace my rotor and pads. 1500 for the back, and 1500 for the front... WTH??? pads 269 labor 210.. ok... then the remainder of the 1500 is for the rotor and labor... lol

No problem. Just make sure to bed the brakes once installed.

if you haven't exceeded the min thickness for your rear rotors, you could just turn them down. should be cheaper than replacing them.
