Remote Reservoir Coils

Remote Reservoir Coilovers

I have seen these on a few race only applications. I am curious to see if any of you guys know why they exist. Is it to hold more shock fluid/nitrogen away from the main tube so things stay cooler?

anybody?

Pretty much. Also to allow more overall fluid capacity.

Did you ever feel one after it's been worked? I can't believe how hot those things get.

Drives: a $65k car i can sell for 20

i have a set of kw varient 3's w/external reservoirs and a set of motons with external reservoirs, the idea behind them is to (as stated) have a plethora of fluid in the shock, therefore limiting bubbles or dramatic uncharacteristic change in fluid displacement.

Right...in most modern ext. res. shocks the air charge is stored in the external tank, so the shock body can be completely filled with fluid. This has several benefits as mentioned, like heat absorption, and greater range of motion. It also keeps the fluid from foaming due to mixing of the air and fluid which is usually combined within the shock body of standard shocks.
