AEM vs. Autronics
I cant decide if I want to go with AEM EM or Autronics EM. Right now I'm running a espelir 3" dp, helix delete pipe, hks ti/cf cat back, walbro 255 fuel pump, and an Apex.i intake. My soon to be mods are peakboost chargepipe kit, tial bov, helix cam gears, 272 hks cam shafts, retainers, valve springs, head studs, and a turbo upgrade - probably a gt35r. My goal is about 550whp. What EM should I go with - AEM or Autronics - pros/cons? Thanks in advance!

The AEM has tons of features, Autronic has been making engine management systems since Evo 1 and there systems are rock solid stable. I've witnessed first hand accounts of AEM's not doing what there suppose to, and I've never seen an Autronic skip a beat. I guess that's why so many rally teams use them as well.

I know lots of people with the EMS around my area and all love it...I will be getting one soon...plus AEM tech support and customer service is great. On the other hand, Autronics also have an awesome rep and are VERY proven...Either choice will work great I am sure...whatever you get be sure to just make sure there are reputable tuners around for it and if you tune yourself then good luck!

How many guys have had sucess with the Autronic PNP? It seems like a great alternative to AEM. They have been doing EFI management long before AEM. One of my best friends whom was a big time supra guy said that he would even touch my car if it had an AEM on it. A lot of people like AEM. I am not trying to start anything here. I just want to here some feedback on the Autronic PNP. Anyone???

I agree... Sean Ivey is one of the best tuners in the game right now.

I 've used autronic pnp on evo 6 and autronic smc on evo3 before with good results. Both car pumps out 630whp with the same turbo garrett gt35r and never had any problems w
ith the ecu. Well what
I can say is it all comes down to the tuner. If he is familiar with the ecu, I don't see any problem with the ecu. As for the person who quoted using autronic ecu blowing up 3 motors and having endless problems, I think its tuning problem and not the ecu.

Well. I kindof have experince with autronics.
My car was the testbed for the US Evo8 pnp board back in 03.
Cold starts is a nightmare. With all the support here.. Aussie imports being located here. I never got a good coldstart map.
I've experinced a hiccup before where the autronic kindof just stops working and then starts back.. creating a bucking sensation. My old pnp board is on another local evo and it to does it from time to time. very rare. The 2 other local evos don't have this problem i asked steve about it and he said it was just normal. oh well.
The support here is great. No one here uses a aem everyone has autronics. But no ones car starts in the winter.. My buddy puts hotpacks on his iat sensor to start his evo. I spoke with steve about getting another board and he said he could work out everything in 2 days if i left my car with him. The cold start issues that his..
Then openecu came out..
Standalones are a headace and a half.

I had an Autronic on my CC GSR (4G63 swap)
Had it tuned decently by a GOOD tuner that knew it inside out.
Result?
Perfect idle, coldstart, hotstart, power delivery etc...
Car drove like stock just putting around, but when you nailed it it was awesome.
Car only had minor mods really, and ran 12.07 @ 104 w/1.71 60ft.
That was with a DD number of 159awkw.
I would chose it no probs again....worth every cent!
