what boost control do you use

I was wanting to know what most of you are using for boost controll with autronic. I am currently using the stock boost solenoid. how many are doing that or using the autronic solenoid or something else. also if you are using the stock solenoid do you have it tied in like it comes in from the factory or have you tried re-routeing the vacume lines differently to get your imput values closer to what the avtual values actually are. thanks

would you explain the setup your working on. i wanted to free up the extra lines that the stock solenoid uses. and just have one line going to the wastegate and one T'd into the intake manifold and bov. but i wasnt sure if the stock solenoid would function correctly that way. also i had wondered if the GM boost control solenoid would work with autronic.

Can someone on here please explain to me why they decided to go with the Autronic set up over the AEMS EMS? I can't seem to find any other tuner besides the one here that likes or uses Autronic. Is it true that the Autronics doesn't have a knock sensor or safe boost mode? Have any of you experienced any sort of malfunctions with this system? I'm about to purchase a stand alone unit and would like to go with the Autronic since my tuner is much more capable with it, but there seems to be a lack of tech support for it according to other tuners such as AMS, TurboTrix, Buschur, and RNR. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Losing to one is no shame, they are dedicated performance cars. AWD+factory turbo equals a deadly combination. Like our Tokyo based friend said, challenging tuned GT-R's, Evo's, and Sti's is a great way to lose.

i choose autronic because i was more familure with the system than AEM. also all the horror stories of AEM looseing maps and them having trouble sending a signal to turn on the fuel pump etc... i also have a buddy that owns a local shop that specalizes in autronic tuneing... the SMC and SM2 do not have a knock sensor but any good tuner doesnt need that to safely make big power. However the new SM4 ecu does have knock sensor all autronic units have a warning / over boost controll setting. Martin at AMS can tune autronic and he can make a car run just as good at it would with AEM there is really no difference in the ability to modify fuel curves, timeing etc... he just has more experence with AEM and is more comfortable useing it. i have had no problems at all with my autronic. i literally went from stock ECU to starting my Evo up with autronic in 10 mins. the PnP board is so simple and the base calabrations that come with it for the Evo are on the money.

Thanks for the info. If I decide to go the stand alone route I will use autronic. At this point though I may just go to a piggy back system such as Xede or TurboXS. I have lost so much sleep researching which systems work best for certain applications and my local tuner probably hates me now because I've called them with so many questions about tuning my car. I (just like everyone else) just want my car to make good reliable power on a day to day basis. Thanks again for the info!

The gm boost contorl solenoid should work just fine, but I chose to use the autronic solenoid since the software is setup for it automatically, plus my extremely high hp level expectation (don't want anything cheaper to mess it up). The stock solenoid will work just fine as well. The c02 setup is basically going to use a solenoid hooked to a co2 canister inside the car so that the instant the car reaches full boost, the c02 pressure pops the wastegate open instantly so boost builds as fast as possible and doesn't creep at all..... in theory at least...

As far as the autronic vs. aem ems goes, all I have to say is this. I bought the aem, put it in the car three days and then sold the piece of ****. The software is junk and the hardware did nothing but quirk up on me. One second it links up, one second it can't find the ecu, one second the ecu isn't even an AEM ecu? wtf? The basemap was completely ****ed up and if you try to follow their original instructions to "sync timing" (which doesn't make ANY ****ing sense unless you have cam gears) you might just end up with your timing 15 degrees or more off. Just as a side note, I am not your typical user so I'm not just an idiot. I have both basic and advanced certifications at efi101 from ben strader and have extensive experience with several standalone systems including motec, hondata, neptune, uberdata, haltech, tec II and III, autronic, and previous AEM ems systems. The software is overly complex and pointless. The autronic came out of the box, and after spending 10 minutes putting the intake air temp sensor in, the car started right up. With the wideband wired in (yes plx will work with the autronic) I had the car tuned 80%ish in the first 30 minutes and then went on the dyno to make 400+lbft of torque on a gt30r on pump gas. The car is slated for much m uch higher levels the beginning of june (Ben strader himself is tuning the car). Bottom line, Autronic rocks. Use it once and you will swear by it. Knock control is for people who can't tune and if you think about it, at high levels, once you hear knock.... its already too late....

Had the autronic installed last week and thus far the car seems to be running fine. I should've done a before and after dyno run though to see the difference in power. The last time I had my car dynoed with a flash, it put down 334hp/326tq @ 22psi on a mustang dyno. With the autronic installed it only put down 321hp/325tq @ 19psi on a dynojet but I'll be damned if it dosen't feel faster as it stands now. The power delivery is much much smoother now which shows on my dyno graph, and it idles 100% better. I also went with a rrc throttle body and a set of racing spark plugs but kept the stock injectors. I'm supposed to go back and fine tune it some more later this week which is when I'll more than likely upgrade my injectors and bump the boost back up to 22 pounds before putting on the T-67.

I bought a used PnP board that I should get next week. I downloaded the software but it looks confusing! ( I have an AEM in my VR4). Do the base cals have adjustments for particular injectors?

when you get your PNP board and software there will be an Evo startup cal file that will setup everything. you can adjust different injectors etc.. autronic will look weird to you because its based off of volumetric efficency. in your base fuel table the values will get lower when load and RPM increases but to add fuel you would increase thoes values. when you get your PnP you need to register on the autronic forum. you will have to provide them the serial # of your board

Running Autronic SM2 , with a Blitz SBC-iD3 boost controller . Dual Solinoid .

Swapping that for the Blitz Spec S , single solinoid - for better/smoother boost controll.

Running 2.0bar the single solinoid seems to just work better !!
