AMS Lower Intercooler Pipe problem:

Okay I noticed that the pipe got damaged by a bracket under it piercing a hole into it I guess from normal driving vibration or pressure and was just wondering if this happen to anyone else with the AMS lower pipe. It kind of sucks that a rounded piece of metal pierced a hole through a pipe that cost over 290.00 in such an easy manor. The pipe was Installed Correctly 110%

can you take pictures of it installed on the car? What bracket in question rubbed through it? The reason I ask is nothing should be in contact with it when installed properly.

Pictures would be great. Thanks!

Eric

hehe, the licp on mine blew completely off and got run over a couple weeks ago, that issue has since been corrected.

I have to ask tho, has it been redesigned in the past.. mm 3 years? the piping that came with the 35r kit seemed to be a bit longer than required as well as well as not having any kind of bracketry to hold the thing up in the event of a forceful separation :-D

We have not heard from the original poster.

As far as the GT35R lower pipe it does not have any bracing but we do recommend that T-bolt clamps are used. To be honest we rarely ever have an incident.

I didnt take pics but the hole was as small as a penny, and it was cause from a metal bracket holding a coolant hose in place from my own knowledge. I guess ill just leave the stock one on.Once again this thread wasnt made to bash AMS but maybe to prevent other people from having this problem or AMS to see if there is any possibility of this being a problem.

Thanks, Bear

I would really like to see the pipe installed and the piece as it was rubbing through it. We have never had this problem before.

Here are some pics of mine. It also rubs against the bracket for the lower radiator hose. Today I took it off, and tried to find a way to mount it without the rubbing, but no matter how you put it once you mount the bracket, it pushes the pipe into the coolant hose bracket.

Pic from above.

This pic shows where the pipe hits the bracket. It makes contact just above the clamp.

Here's a close up from above.

I am no engineer, but I think that the bracket that mounts the elbow on the lower pipe to the chassis might be to short. Another thing, where the bracket mounts to the chassis for the lower pipe, there are two holes, I mounted on the lower one, I tried to mount it on the upper one, but I couldn't make it happen. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
