my boy called me late last night, sayin he had a friend who was gettin rid of some 17"s , dude. the only problem is that they're chrome. Now i'm ridin' stockies right now, that are painted, and i HATE chrome anything. except for maybe pipes, but i'm wondering what do u think? take the rims? or not? Could i paint chrome rims...anyone think it's a good idea?

Don't do it... I haven't seen them but I already know that they are ugly.

The way I see it, anything is better than stockies, as far as chrome you could paint those also just gotta sand and primer first.

some chrome rims are okay ... just depends on what the car looks like, accessories, etc.
you should get the brand/model and see what they look like ... if you like em, then go for it. If not .. dont worry about it. You could always put em on ebay ..

$150 - go for it. Sand and paint, they'll be perfect and an amazing deal.

Buy real rims and tires? You can get deals now a day for brand new 17's with tires for 699 and 799. Nice looking ones too. {thumbup}

Take em for $150, sell em on ebay for $300, and use that money to buy the wheels you want.
I'm with you though, man. Chrome is ****.

I'm thinkin i might just get em' for $150, thats a HELL of a deal. and my boy told me they're like 12 spoke or something. I'm going to look at them today i think, but as long as maybe i can sand , prime and paint them w/o the paint coming off, i might just have a chance to custom do whatever color paint i want on the rims? or SELL em' on ebay...MAN anything's better than stocks, especially if your hubcaps keep bouncing and rattling.

...powdercoat is much more reliable.

i would by them and sell them for a higher price. chrome rims only look good on certain cars in my opinion but w/e you want to do.

I wouldn't, why waste 150$ if they're not the rims you want? If you don't like chrome, don't buy chrome rims, no matter how good a deal.

powdercoating weakens them and they have a much greater chance of cracking ro even shattering, ive seen it several times

IMHO Chrome rims are heavy as ****... i'd rather rock hubcaps than heavy ass, performance degrading, fugly rims... the lancer is already slow as-is, why make it any slower?

are you sure they are chrome... there are a lot of polished wheels out there that people just say are chrome b/c they are bright and shiny... and if you are gonna paint them just dont get them. Unless you can resale them on say ebay for a higher price

also make sure they are the same lug pattern. the ES needs rims with a 4 x 100. Even if they are 4 lug they could be 4x114(or something like that....i know theres another slightly off 4 lug pattern).
If you do like them and want to get them to actually ride on and not just to resell, try to fit them on first before you buy.
