Cracks in Potenza tires - should I worry?
Hey everyone,
while washing my car this morning I discovered tiny little cracks on my front right tire. They look pretty small, but then again, these are the driving AND steering tires, so I am somewhat concerned. I included some fairly bad photos, but that's all I could get (ignore the amazingly-washed tires ). Anyone else have this problem? Also - do I need to deal with Bridgestone or the dealership if I decide to do something about this?

I would roll them so the weight is dirrectly over the cracks they may show how deep they really go. If they open right up you can get new tires under warranty.

it looks bad to me. I'd warranty or start looking into new tires. Ive had problems like that and blow out tires. Id take it to a good tire shop and see what they recommend. Safety first. ya know?

What I received back from our tire service director;
Cracks that occur in rubber due to manufacturing defects are usually very smooth on both sides and no rubber is actually lost.
The conditions in these pictures appear irregular and rough, as well as show some rubber was removed. This indicates they were caused by a "cut", "tear"
or "snag" when the tire ran against an object (such as when parking near a curb).
The area near the UTQG rating looks like a "snag" as best indicated in his 4th picture.
While the area above the tire's name is harder to confirm (because of the presence of un-evaporated water or cleaning solution), its irregular shape also makes it appear to have been caused by some sort of abrasion.
Fortunately, these tiny little imperfections do not warrant removing the tire from service.
Sounds like you will be just fine
