SAFC2: Knock during deceleration/idling

Recently, the weather is getting hotter and hotter (98F there about), after the year end cool weather.

My knock sensor on the SAFC2 had been 0 all the while and recently, during a hot afternoon with a mixture of stop and go driving, with the engine well warmed up, coolant temperature is normal, my SAFC2 shows like 50 to 60 knocks, but once I accelerate, it shows 0. It only shows up on deceleration and idling.

Which area should I improve on ? The low rpm or should I adjust the Deceleration function ?

I was under the impression that we were not sapposed to use the knock feature on the evo because it interferes with the ecu's ablilty to determine knock...

The knock sensor on the SAFC2 only shows the reading and not interferring with the ECU at all.

Not possibly clutch, as I don't have the problem before, and it's only during very hot weather. Morning is fine though

If you dont have knock under full trottle u dont have a problem...i really think your knock sensor is picking up noise.

i wouldnt touch anything. The sensor might be going bad.

And yes it could possibly could be the clutch..if you tell me what u have.

hot wheather
stop and go traffic
clutch wearing out
All will be VERY noisey...spiecally on decel and idle (with clutch out) on a ceramic clutch.

you said u didnt have this problem before..probably because:
colder wheather
no stop and go traffic
clutch had more life

Disregard the knock readings on the SAFC-II. It is useless. It has been proven many times that it is not accurate on our cars.

Drives: a soon to be built FORCE-FED PERFORMANCE beast...

vboy-newbs need love too... j/k, and he is so right just as everyone else has said.. the SAFC sux big ballz when it comes to reading knock.. it has no bearing on what is really going on. I have been tuning with the SAFC with a base flash from Works for about a year now and dont look at the knock monitor portion ever.. its ridiculous.. I upgraded to a new twin-cf clutch and it hit 50 before I went to 4K RPM.. it was retarded.. anyway, get a real data logger and you'll see better monitoring capabilites at RPM's.. good luck
