Noticed something about E85 gas prices
If E-85 is based of corn harvesting then why is it when gas prices go up......E85 goes up as well. Whats the justification in that?

Very good question. I've been watching e85 rise with regular and sometimes costs more.

I believe that they're going to raise reflectant on what the others price is. I would assume that E85 would not have as much of an impact on normal gas prices but normal gas prices would have a greater influence on E85 prices to a certain extent.

i would bet its part of delivering it. the trucks take more fuel to deliver so the supplier raises there rates also.

So much for value.... Had a feeling this was going to happen... Once most have made the switch to E85 then the government can monopolize and charge basically whatever they want. Whatever at least were making the money instead of other countries, or I should say I hope that were making the money not just 2-3 CEO's.
Cheers!

there are still petroleum derivitives in E85, about 15% so yeah the other things you have mentioned may contribute to increased prices, it is still gas...

Yeah our gas raised to 2.19, Used to be 1.65-1.85. I just find it funny. If they were lower (like significantly lower then regular pump I'm willing to bet the general public would demand more flex fuel cars.....which would increase the amount of E-85 gas stations.

I think all motor fuel prices will be in sync to some extent. Over time, however, I think a legitimate case could be made that E85 should slowly become less expensive and gasoline should slowly become more expensive.
There is a finite amount of petroleum reserves; it's a big number, true, but there are no subterranean elves down there making crude oil out of dirt.
On the other hand, there are pretty much a limitless number of renewable resources that can be brought into play in the increased production of ethanol.

As much was the case with bio diesel, at first was cheaper and now more expensive due to the government implementing all of the taxes onto the it, declaring it "petroleum based" This is the same case for E85, though it is from corn, it is still taxed as regular fuel. Most places, biodiesel is the same price if not more now. They always find a way to tax, or else it will just be forbidden to sell. The rise in fuel prices now, in both gas and diesel, is blamed on a supply issue. Now is the time when the refineries switch from winter to summer blend. Gas and diesel was cheaper for the few months prior because the fuel was discounted to clear out all remaining inventory because at the cut off point it is no longer able to be sold for retail purposes. So now in turn, the refineries say there is a shortage and then raises prices. Ive been in the fuel business a while now, and daily the prices change multiple times and there are always "outages" at different terminals this time of year...

it is what it is. still a hell of alot cheaper than q16 , you cant compare it to regular gas, so yes the value is still there.

prices rise because of the delivery and it still contains normal petrol. just like you're 93 octane contains between 10-15% of ethanol. I will say this tho... I haven't seen many gas stations with E85 that have anywhere near 85% Ethanol. It's normally 70-80%. And I live pretty close to the South Bend Ethanol Plant, so you'd think it would be in abundance.

For us is like poor man's race gas but for people who have flex fuel cars it would annoy the crap out of me...the whole point is to save cash, support US based industry. I wil lcontinue to do so I just found it hilarious is all.
