Question about those of you that switch between pump and E85
I ordered the map switch from one of our EVOM members and I plan on being able to switch back and forth between pump and E85 fuel maps but I have a question. I would assume that going from E85 to regular pump gas would be fine but going the other way concerns me.
Like say I use regular pump all week and on the weekend I want to use E85. I run the tank until its almost bone dry but still have some pump gas in....when I fill up on E85 do irun the risk of having bad knock count since the octane would be lowere once E85 is mixed with the pump gas left over?
A friend of mine that use to be into EVO's when he had his started making me a little worried about being able to do that. He is advocating meth but I seriously like the idea of being able to pull up to a E85 gas station and getting almost race fuel for less then what my wife pays at the pump.

Doing that would be 'OK', but if you have your car tuned 'to a T and set to Kill' (meaning very tight timing and fuel trims), you will end up seeing knock and loosing the advantage of the tight tune. The easiest way is to get a couple cans filled with E85, go home, drain the fuel, then refill with the E85. It's really not that much more work especially if you are only doing this for track/weekends.

When I switch from pump gas to E85, i usually wait till my fuel light comes on, then drive 10-15 more miles. Then i put in E85 and i set my boost at slightly less than i was initially tuned at. I.E. I was tuned at 28PSI on pure E85. So, when i switch i set my boost around 26-27psi. On my next tank of E85, i turn it back up to 28psi

Thats cool. I plan on running E85 as often as i can actually if I drive up to Toronto or run errands around town there is really no point inhaving it...unless I just want to drive like Grandma and save a few pennies.

I definitely do no plan on switching that often, but when I switch I will basically just do the same as skiracer. I will baby her through the first tank, and let it rip on the 2nd full tank.

I want to switch whenever I can, fill up!! There are not enough E-85 spots, So I want to get it whenever I'm around one and can fill up.

I don't have any issues switching one way or the other. I just take it easy for the first 30-50 miles of a new tank. I switch twice a month, if not more. No issues- as long as your tune and latencies are correct.

I think once you are used to the extra 75HP and 100 ft lbs, you will want to make the extra effort to run E85 100% of the time. It is by far the most cost effective mod. Period.

i switched back once but i find it almost as easy to just find the corn than mess with draining the tank... the car feels like a dog on the 93, i'm not going back, haha.

Approx. 50-75 whp and 75-100 ft lbs over whatever you had before switching to E85, assuming an EVO with most of the typical bolt-ons.
Not so much on a bone stock EVO, but I've not seen a bone stock EVO running E85. I would like to however.
