Sometimes things totally amaze me, and this is one of those times.
GREENCAR.COM publishes a Top 5 Green Car list each year; then they select one as
THE green car of the year.
For this year (2009) the Top Five Green Cars are, in no particular order:
BMW 335d
Ford Fusion Hybrid
Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid
Smart ForTwo
VW Jetta TDI
These are all good cars, don't get me wrong. But, all five of these vehicles run exclusively on crude oil. No Flex-Fuel. No E85. No type of renewable energy whatsoever. (And yet none of these get anywhere near the fuel mileage of the Prius.)
BTW, the VW was selected the Green Car of the Year 2009.
RANT: How does Saturn get away with a "Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid". It
ONLY runs on crude oil. That seems like just one mode to me. Now, when the 2010 plug-in version comes to market, then it will accurately be a "2 Mode". Maybe they are simply trying to stay ahead of the curve. Maybe the next EVO should be the XII. /RANT
