Getting ready for E85, some questions...

Hey all,

I'm going to install a set of FIC 950cc injectors tomorrow. Going to follow this link from evolutionm.net: Any other tips for installing injectors that I should be aware of?

How to: install injectors!

Anyway,

After I get these injectors installed, I'm going to be running on pump gas for about a week/two until I get it tuned down here for E70ish.

My main question is, I just want to know what I need to do to my ecu flash tune (93 oct), just to get by until I get tuned. I daily drive my car to work about 24 miles a day, fyi.

I found the scaling/latencies for my FIC's on evolutionm.net: Does this look good?

I'm using a scaling of 812 and the following latency, trims are within about 5-6%.

V ms
4.69 3.312
7.03 2.184
9.38 1.392
11.72 0.912
14.06 0.792
16.41 0.408
18.68 0.264

Other Questions:

1:

Is this all i need to change to get me by on PUMP/93 octane, until I get tuned?

2:

When I'm ready to drive my car to get tuned on E70, what will I have to change via ecuflash to get it to run ok on E70, just to get it on the other side of town?

Keep in mind, I'm not concerned right now about going WOT, being I just installed an IX turbo/ported mani and MAP coated 02 (beautiful piece by the way!) and my zeitronix wideband. So really, I'm not tuned for this new setup.

Thanks for any help!
-Brent

Ryan,

Joey is going to tune it. After I rode in Paul's evo (also tuned by Joey), that made up my mind. Should be getting it done in the next two weeks. For sure before May 2nd/3rd which is the first autox weekend here.

Can't wait!

Scale the injectors 30% smaller for E85 and you will be good to go across town.

Good! When we tuned my mr2, we drained the fuel out right at the shop (just took off the return line), and filled up with e85 right there to start tuning. So that might be an option, if the fuel can be drained easily at the shop. If not, I am sure it will drive fine across town.

If you need any help, just let me know.

Hmm, that may be an idea. Does he have E85 there, or I'm assuming I bring my own?

Thanks Ryan

You mean numerically smaller, correct? The injectors actually need to open 30% longer, for 30% more fuel flow.

That's what I was gonna ask. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the clarification, Jim.

Everything else look alright though?

Haha,

No problem. I'll just drive over with E70(ish).

I'm going to try and make it out to TVR a couple times this year to see what she can do, however auto-x is going to be my main priority this summer with the evo.

Yes.... Scale the injectors 30% smaller in the ecuflash field called "Injector Scaling". That's it.

I would try and run 1 full tank through the car before tuning.

Excellent! Thanks for the help guys.

I did get the injectors installed here. Also rescaled the injectors and changed the latencies. I'm gonna fire her up here in a bit after I get done eating and check for leaks/etc..

Well, I'm sure that that phrase will be true, once I get tuned!

Everything went smoothly, surprisingly!!!

I got the injectors installed this afternoon here. I adjusted the scaling a bit from what I posted/quoted at the top of the thread and filled up with E70/85 because I was almost on empty! Seems to be running just fine driving like a grandma.

I'm just happy that this is finally done. Now, I can't wait to get tuned! Just waiting for my synapse synchronic valve to come in first! This has been a long time coming!

Thanks again guys!
Brent

Question: If you sacle the injectors smaller, wouldn't that affect the latency? Don't you have to change the latency as well?
