Drives: Wicked White '05 EVO

Ecu Boost Control + 3" FMIC+geared 272s+E85 + Stock Evo VIII turbo=rally torque

My '05 Evo was dyno'd at 295/295 last year with TBE, MBC on 91 pump

Added:
Gruppe-S 3-port BCS
RC1000cc inj
Nisei 3" FMIC
HKS 272s (BC cam gears at +2,+2)
Self-tuned for E85 at 26.5 psi tapering to 22

Made 383 ft-lbs/351 hp on RREs Dynapak today. Max Torque at 3332 rpm and Hp at 5900

Pretty darn happy about that. Airflow was maxed up top and could only make more power by throwing timing at it. Car is an absolute blast on the street.

Great numbers!

I sometimes regret "upgrading" to the IX turbo. The VIII turbo was far more responsive. Had I known at the time that I would end up on E85, I would have stayed on the original turbo.

Jim,

I too was tempted by the spectacular IX turbo, but decided to explore the capabilities and tug at the edges of the VIII turbo efficiency area because it was free. The car has explosive power available immediately. I was willing to trade off big power in the upper rpm range to launch out of the turns with grunt usually reserved for larger displacement NA engines.

Thanks again for your helpful E85 tips writeup. I have implemented all of the tips and know the car is more reliable for it. Hope to see you out at the track sometime.

Just around 1700 hz. PLease be aware that there has been no porting, stock manifolds, stock 02housing, stock TB, and 2.75 inch downpipe, so there is still plenty of restriction in the system.

my friends lightly modified ix flows better at max AF

i can send the logs if you are interested.

dyno plots posted. You can notice that I made adjustments after the first two pulls and added timng in the 5500-6000 range. After the dyno, I have added a point of timing at 4500 to round out the curve.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

You've convinced me to hold off my FP Red build. I'll go this route for now.

Those are really good numbers on the stock turbo. I've upgraded to 35r, haven't gotten the car back yet but can't wait to see how it goes. I remember what it was like with the stock turbo, instant boost. Lol.. Kind of miss that though !!

Man, you might have just given me something to look forward to once I return from Iraq. I might just get all of the supporting parts and worry about getting a turbo only as a last result and certainly not before I see how the car feels with E85 and a nice complement of "go fast" parts. I have the stock VIII turbo with the 9.8cm and yes, I like the feeling that it doesn't matter what gear I'm in the power is always right there.
