Is a highflow Fuel Pump mandatory for E85?

as per subject... For E85:

I hate the whining noise of the walbro.. Figure if I can get away with using the stock IX pump then I will.

Thoughts?

Cheers
D.

My walbro isnt any louder than my OEM was. Youd never notice it unless you take the rear seat out. Its a super simple install and good insurance. Tunning with E-85 the minimal you need is a larger fuel pump. Many tuners ask that you install bigger injectors also.

My walbro is noticable from outside the car. Most people on her recommend a double-pumper and 1000cc injc.

IX pump should work fine as long as you limit max boost to the appropriate IDCs and proper ARFs.

Dynamat can fix the noise but so can a little music....As for the pump you could on a stock motor stock turbo 25psi or less 1000cc injectors will put you right at 190lph at 8K. If you want the calculator I used just send me a PM.

A high flow pump is needed unless you plan on limiting boost out at 6500 rpm (peak power rpm for stock turbo E85) to something like 20 psi, but what's the point in doing that with E85.

The Walbro really isn't that loud under normal conditions. I'm a real stickler about noise levels, and the only time I notice it during daily driving is when the car is idling at a stop. My understanding is that they can get temporarily noisy though when pushed for long periods of time at high boost.

If that's still too much noise for you, there are some drop-in Denso pumps that have almost as much flow capacity as a Walbro. There are a bit over 2x the cost though.

My Walbro is decently quiet, but i also have the SSL leather interior. So, that might be quieting the pump more compared to the cloth interiors.

The increased acceleration G's when running E85 will sufficiently distort your eardrum so that the sound of the Walbro will be entirely drowned out by your screams of glee.

BWAHAHAHA

Just outrun the sound right :P

Yeah I guess I will get a walbro.. Local place is charging $138 AUD for the FP walbro's.

Anyone want to send me a $69 US FP walbro? Can't imagine shipping will be more than $20
