I bought this the other day (see link below) and filled her up with 10 gallons of E85 as a precaution when I drove to MOD yesterday. I uses ratcheting straps to hold it to the spare tire with a packing blanket underneath. The container is designed for straps. Any way they say it weighs 115 pounds full and even with only 10 gallons in it for testing I could feel the added weight driving around but it wasn't as bad as say a passenger in the rear. I have yet to use the little handheld dispenser but plan to later on today.
Anyway for long drives I can fill er up and take it and easily take it out when not needed or leave it in the trunk empty. They make smaller sizes as well. I know some have mentioned containers and i had considered another fuel cell but this was way cheaper and all that I really need.
This company makes fuel containers for the military and they say it is UN approved for transport in most all countries
The Irony is I bought this and made my round trip drive achieving better MPG than usual so did not really need it THIS time I kept my foot out of it and only got on it a few times along the way and achieved over 17 MPG although it was almost 100 percent freeway.
PS it was on sale at Pep Boys for $89.99 and some places on web list for Tons more
Very nice, Dude. I presume when in your trunk the Duramax was horizontal, correct? Did you 'mount' it lying length wise or sideways?
They use the word "pump" to describe a component of the Duramax, this is a hand operated siphon "pump" correct?
Can the fuel be dispensed into the EVO tank whilst the Duramax remains strapped to the spare tire? Or did you try this? This would seem like very important info for our use. I was concerned, as the illustration shows the Duramax positioned much higher than the tank being filled.
I had been thinking of a DIY project, like a sheet of thin plywood cut to fit the trunk so it could not slid around. Then attached several small gas cans to the board so they could readily be removed and used as needed.
The Duramax sounds like the answer assuming the EVO tank can be filled from the Duramax with it strapped down in the EVO trunk.

Correct-the pump looks like a mini version of real station pump has 3 meters of hose to boot approx.

The pump has siphon mode when tank is higher than fill and the handle is an actual pump this might get tedious and time consuming pumping by hand but it will work according to the manufacturer

I too will be making some sort of support for this tank I actually had some plywood out yesterday but did not have time to work with it . The padded shipping blanket folded to go underneath the unit placed horizantally and strapped in is working great. I pushed with god pressure simulating hard turns and there is zero movement while strapped in.

worse case scenario you hand pump what you need if the siphon mode of pump does not work. I'll go out to garage and pump or siphon some to see how it goes
I'll update after pumping some e85 as tank is pretty low after MOD event yesterday

So I went to garage to pump from tank and I could definitely hand pump using the nozzleIn retrospect I need to test this again but I did fill my 1.5 plastic container a couple of times using the nozzle and it took less than minute to fill the container and then pour into tank. a little cumbersome but the purpose of having fuel and extended range are met. I need to test more as maybe the cap vent was not open far enough.
Scepter makes a 6.5 gallon that could be lifted and placed on corner of car with towel below to prevent scratching car that would most defintely siphon and speed refueling. See link...
this has some warnings about e85 and in one line they say all their products are e85 compatible. Moeller is a division of scepter who makes the duramax. most modern polyethelene plastic containers can handle e85.
Reading the above article has me considering one of Moellers water seperating gas filters though.
Guys make sure these are approved for e85!! some of these containers are not made for e85!!
Moeller marine products is a division of scepter and markets the duramax on moellers website they say ALL their storage containers are e85 compatible. I am however considering their water seperating fuel filter due to e85 being so hydroscopic
i do not necessarily believe everything in the following link but a good read ....
PS some of us inject water and back in the day a splash of water has been known to remove carbon deposits from engine internals. so i have heard (validity unknown)

Most if not all their products are e85 rated
Moeller marine is a division of scepter (duramax parent company) and moeller sells the duramax as well.. if you care check out the link as there is good info. on e85 and it makes me consider buying one of their fuel filters that seperate water and fuel ...
I looked at doing this also. But for 89 dollars its a pain in the but to get out of the car when its full and your at a autox or rallyx. Im using 5gallon fuel jugs. they cost 19.95 at your local motorcycle shop. E85 never sits in them for more than a day... so im not to worried about them. This setup would be great just for long trips that didnt require removal.
