Switched to E85…IX turbo...394whp/418trq...

All I can say is WOW!

Based on skiracer’s results in this thread, I took a road trip out to Road Race Engineering and had Scot Gray lay the 91 and E85 map-switching tunes on my VIII. I could not be more pleased.

My hat is off to skiracer for showing up for the late night dyno session!!! Thanks for the moral support!

My full mod list is:
BR cone filter
BR SS MAF pipe
Hallman MBC
APS dual vent BOV/DV
Helix down pipe
Helix test pipe
Greddy EVO2 cat-back (modified to 3")
HKS 264/264 cams
Nisei LICP
Walbro 255Lph fuel pump
IX turbo
PPI ported ex manifold
SS O2 housing
ETS 3” FMIC
RC 1,000cc injectors

Scot managed to squeeze out 319whp/286trq on 91 at 21psi. I was a bit disappointed to say the least. I had previously made 318whp/311trq on the local heart-breaker Mustang. I was hoping to do better, not worse. First I loose my mind, and then I loose my torque. I was kinda bummed.

However, the E85 elixir did not disappoint. Scot dialed in a blistering 394whp/418trq at 28psi. That's an E85 gain of 76whp and 132trq or 24% more whp and 46% more torque, on a boost increase of 7psi.

The only down side was that I had to switch to the 91 tune for the drive back to Tucson.

The power level of the IX turbo on E85 is as close to perfection as I can imagine. It makes fifth gear feel like 3rd and 3rd gear feel like 1st. This is far and away the best mod I've done yet!

Nice #'s man. Been thinking about going to E-85 on my IX, 4 stations in my local area so it would be convenient.

Good stuff Jim! Nice to meet you yesterday as well! It was funny on the dyno as we turned up the boost incrementally on E85, the smile on your face got bigger and bigger after each pull.

Want me to post results on SoCalEvo.net ?

That's what I'm told. Anything larger than a stock frame turbo may need dual pumps. I'll post up my IDCs shortly.

Nice! I love E-85, and will not go back to regular pump gas...

But, things are going to get interesting as my motor is comming out tonight and being rebuilt with 9.5:1 compression... God I can't wait! Gonna be fun!

wow more great results with E-85. I just hope the price doesn't start skyrocketing by the time it hits the Philly area.
