AEM Boost solenoid vs Standalone EBC?
I have a question. How does the AEM boost solenoid under the control of the EMS compare to using a standalone EBC such as Apexi's popular unit? Any benefit to using a standalone over letting AEM handle it?

Everything can be done perfectly with AEM EMS, why to use something else ?
Only if you need to switch more than 2 boost levels without PC, you will need something else

Using the AEM to control the boost is the most precise way to do it. The problem is that most people do not understand how it works or have the patience to set it up correctly. It really isn't as complicated as some make it out to be however.

how would you compare the 2 unites together in terms of boost controle I bought mine 3 years ago hoping to stroke my car but that never happened. still have it nd will be installing it soon but my tuner told me for some odd reason that a manual boost controller is better than the electronic boost control that comes with Power FC D-jetro

PowerFC has nearly no function to control boost. You can just set the duty of the solenoid and thats all.
But AEM EMS can do closed loop, PID, Speed dependant, duty + correction factor, and much more.
Just everything you can imagine and tune

i went back to a manual controller. i had the aem running a gm solonoid. at lower boost levels 20-25psi it worked great. but after turning the boost up to 35psi it would overboost sometimes for no reason. 1 pull it would be fine and the next it would hit boost cut. so i gave up on it.

Some solenoids can block if too much boost is reached, and they stay open or closed.
I had problem on APEXi solenoid, it stayed open when boost was over 1,1BAR, installing new piece has solved the problem.

I had issues with the gm solenoid at anything over 29 psi. I have since switched to the AEM solenoid and it works fantastic.

GM boost controller has 85% duty cycle. The AEM one has 95% duty cycle.
So Yes AEM Boost controller is better. Setting up the boost controller is a PIA. But if set up right it works very well.
It holds a flat 30psi. Instead of it hitting the target 30 psi and then fall off in higher rpms with MBC.
I can't speak for the other E-controller becaue I've never used one.

im having the aem boost solenoid installed as we speak at turbotrix... anyone have any tips on how to tune it using my aem ems??? im sure turbotrix will set it up but what if i plan on changing boost levels and decide to start playing around with my map to c what works and what doesnt??? i eventually i want to be able to tune my own car instead of paying someone everytime i need something changed.
