AEM EMS crash during firmware upgrade

Hello,

Well as the title say, my laptop crashed or the serial to usb crashed during the firmware upgrade...Now I can't connect to the AEM EMS.
I have 2 cal. map for my AEM EMS made by a tuner, one for 93oct and one for C16. version 1.19 both.
I wanted to load the C16 but when uploading the map it keeps going online, offline, online offline ect... until the progress bar get to 100% and tell me file wasn't succefull uploaded.
So I decided to put back the 93oct and same thing, upload wasn't succeful.

I was thinking I needed to upgrade to 1.21, so I try to do it and failed.
And here I am, can't connect to my EMS.

Before crash, i took that sreenshot because computer was staying like that for few minutes.

Now i can't access anymore the AEM EMS.

What can I do to make my unit work again.
Now I feel that I should not have touch the damn thing.

update:
I just pick up the workshop laptop with built in serial port since a lot of people are saying serial to usb is really bad.

But now I'm getting another error.

ECU Status windows shows:

Parity Error
Offline
Online
Break error
Parity error
ect....

Does it means I'm only having connection issue and didn't screw up the EMS?

I didn't find anyone on the forums who used to have problem like me, so I REALLY hope my EMS is not lockup because of firmware upgrade failure.

Thank you for your time.

Drives: 2005 lancer evo, 1999 civic coupe, 2001 S2000 (just sold), 1963 impala, 2005 350z roadster(sold), 2002 WRX w/ STI motor..

If your using a USB to Serial adapter just check that you are telling it to be using the USB and NOT the serial. On the EMS tell it to work offline then go to ECU--->connection port--->and choose USB. My EMS did this also. After about 10 minutes of things like re-starting the computer and stuff like that I figured it out.

Ive used a USB to Serial on over 15 different EMS computers and NEVER had an issue. And not just Evo's either. Mine has been used on a couple of Honda's, Nissans, Toyota's and Eclipses. No connection problems but a couple of times when it tried to use a Serial connection instead of the USB.

this is funny on the aem ems forum, they say don't ever use USB in connection port.
Will give a try.

Thanks.

If the ecu crashed during a firmware update you'll need to reflash the eprom. You can use the recovery program aem provides to reinstall the 1.19 firmware or you can do it manually with a Prom burner.

Don't use the 1.21 firmware it's not for your application. 1.19 is all you need.

Send a message via MSN to HxllxMan
AEM tech told me was a bad thing going 1.21 for the unit.
Send back EMS to get eprom replace.
