Looking for assistance- Epic Lulz for stupidity.

Howdy folks.

I jumped into the Evo realm with both feet first, and have made some mistakes along the way.

One of these mistakes was not fully understanding everything that goes into tuning; what's desired, what does what, what can royally screw you up, and what is "right" and "wrong" to do.

To that end, a story is upcoming. It's a grand story, and you shall all enjoy it.

I purchased http://zilvia.net/f/cars-sale/228790-fs-ft-2003-evo8-41k-miles-built-everything-drag-daily-driver-700whp.html

That car, back a few months ago. I only link to another forum since the thread on this forum is now labeled as "sold", which it is, since it's in my garage, and all the info gone.

Now, aside from questioning my sanity in purchasing a car unseen, I must say I love it. Charles was great, awesome source of information, great guy, worked with me all the way. Hell, even picked me up from the airport: Stellar, stellar human being.

However, my lack of knowledge, self admitted of course, has caused me to approach my issues with the car in a hamfisted, awkward way: Take it to Buschur.

I'm ~40 minutes from Wakeman, OH, so going there isn't a huge issue. I have other cars to drive, etc, etc. It's not a problem to go there and get it worked on.

My issue arose when I realized one thing: The cold start sucked. I had it at Buschur's anyways, so they fixed that. I love you, thank you.

The next thing I realized was the fact the car often seemed to run too rich or too lean, and would die after a hard run. It died after I did a pull vs. my father in our Z28, and was awkward and embarassing and had many an epic lulz associated with i. I was not pleased.

Due to these issues, I just got it worked on and tuned (and an Apexi N1 installed; thanks Dan!), and the methanol re-worked; before, it wasn't going into the AEM at all, now, it's controlled and used by the AEM. The nitrous system in the car is no longer connected to the AEM, and the AEM's nitrous control is controlling the SMC, as Buschur said was a good idea. Since I never had any intention of using the nitrous, this is fine. Yee haw.

Anyhoogle, the car dynoed, as shown on the original ad, at ~600 on pump gas.

Buschur's dyno came back at ~435, on pump gas. The car feels a whole hell of a lot weaker, boost comes on later, it's just a different car. I am not pleased.

However, I blame, solely, 100%, myself, in failing to provide information on what the car is or is not equipped with, and not, perhaps, providing more information on what was desired. Pretend I'm a monkey, trying to do calculus, but willing to throw money at someone to make it better and do my equations form me. Yeah.

So, I'd like some help. I'd be willing to work with some via phone, email, text messaging, smoke signals, whatever, to take a look at both the "original" TopSpeedSales AEM configuration, and the new Buschur configuration. Help me to understand what got changed, and how I can get my "old car" back. I can't simply reflash the TopSpeedSales, original config back in, as the nitrous/meth system is all changed. I will be willing to provide any information needed, and would be more than happy to pay for your time. SOMETHING can be worked out, I'm sure.

So, let me know. Or ignore me, or mock me for my self-admitted foolery and stupidity. Anything really works.

Wow, sorry to hear that. The car you bought has a long history. I would think Buscur would do as good of a job as anyone if not better with that car. They really do know their stuff. Those numbers seem unusually low for that setup. I would guess there is some additional issue.

Couple quick notes...the 600+whp dyno posted was a dynojet sheet, Buschur's dyno reads considerably lower than a dynojet.

The issue with the car shutting off when letting the car idle following a hard pull could be the IACV...open the idle screw a couple of turns. Same thing happens to my car at the track after I let off at the top of the track the car will shut off coasting...I just open up the BISS screw before I make passes..problem fixed.
