AccessTUNER Race for Evolution VIII/IX

The beta AccessTUNER Race program has been released for the Evolution VIII/IX. It can be downloaded for free from this link.

http://cobbtuning.com/info/?id=4214

This software will give you access to the tables on your ECU and allow you to custom make your own AccessPORT maps. All of our maps are open to be used as a starting point. Enjoy.

Drives: ambystom01 crazy by insisting on spending $2000 when $400 would do

So this will allow access to all the parameters that the pro tuners have access to, but it will not allow you to tune directly from a PC? If that is the case, that is frickin' schweet you are releasing it for free

This software is designed to be used with a PC. It is basically the professional tuning software, but more geared towards being used on one car instead of multiple cars.

Chris--

I am assuming it is downloadable for free because it is just a "beta" version and you guys want feedback prior to an official launch of the software?

And when it is "official" will we have to pay for the software then?

I've downloaded, but it looks pretty daunting and I can't find a way to view my protune to even see what was previously done so I don't think I'm gonna mess with it....I'd rather not blow up my car....haha!

Import your ProTune map into AP Manager. Click on the map once, then right click on it and open a containing folder, it should default to the COBB ptm file folder on your computer, close AP Manager, open AccessTUNER race and upload .ptm file from containing folder.

BTW, the help file explains things in layman's terms, for reference.

protuned maps might be locked out... this would be to protect the person who tuned the car so people can't play with them.

Can anyone comment on whether this is available for free, as standard? Is this a limited release?

If this will remain a standard, for free with purchas of the AP, this is a smart decision from the vendor. Finally the Evo crowd has a legitimite, tangible and a "means to an end" reason to purchase the product and aren't painting themselves into a corner, so to speak, with little options beyond a mass storage unit.

From the link provided it sounded like this 'beta' version is a free download but something Official will come afterwards that will be purchase only.....If i remember the link said this was a "limited" time only deal

I used Street Tuner for my WRX for quite some time so I am happy to see the interface for Access Tuner is the same. I have found a couple bugs when trying to view some parameters in the dashboard, though. I will do some more testing to determine which parameters work and which ones do not. It might take me a little while to get the data though. The other thing that I have noticed so far is the ISCV table suffers from the same problem that exists with ECUFlash, the x and y axis are not defined correctly. This issue will take more time to track down, but I intend on working on it after the dashboard parameters are straightened out. I hope Cobb maintains the free software with the final version, it would be awesome and will probably make them far more competative against ECUFlash.

I think Cobb is still debating on what would be the best thing to do. Im sure protuners aren't too excited about this.

Still, it doesn't change the amount of people who are able to tune their own cars, it just increases the number of people who are now able to blow their engines up.
