My barometric pressure read 50 kPa. I reflashed and took her out and checked, it still read 50. As you may note, my reads in kPa, not % as you say yours reads. A % reading doesn't really make sense. But I have no idea if 50 kPa is correct.

I drove about 25 miles and saw a max. knock count of 4. That's lower than yesterday, so it's possible the reflash had something to do with the difference although driving circumstances may not have been identical.

Edited to add that my throttle position read 14% at idle, fully warmed. Don't remember what it used to read when I first got my AP.

Hello Gents,

The AP beta firmware has been rev'ed. Long/Short Term Fuel Trims have been fixed. EGR and Barometric Pressure have been removed at the request of customers due to confusion. To my knowledge the Knock Sum Live Data parameter is functioning as it should. I will address concerns in another post.

Please follow the link. The AP-MIT-001.exe has been updated.

Thanks,
Rob

Knock sum movement is going to happen with the seasonal change into warmer weather. It's ok to see bumps into the 4-7 range. I would be a little more concerned about anything above 10. If you have manual boost controllers, you may have to turn the boost down a touch when the weather gets hot or run a little higher octane.

If the knock sum becomes an issue, we will be more than happy to address the tune of our maps. At this point we are confident our maps will be safe even in the hot weather.

Thanks,
Rob

You have to be kidding. Someone complained they didn't understand it so you removed them? Why not just explain them?

I don't think we have any control over barometric pressure, but knowing the exhaust temp could be helpful/interesting.

Also, as long as you're adding/subtracting things, could you bring back intake temp? I used that to see what the outside temp was.

Sure, I'll put the EGR back in for the release version.

Rob,

I agree with the above statement....if you could put back in the Intake Temp that would be awesome...I like to see what that is so i figure I can subtract 15-20 degrees and that should give me the outside air temp.

Please just don't take out the Knock Sum.....I live everyday for that reading

Rob,

Is this the fix based on the trial run from yesterday that I responded to you about this morning?

Drives: a laptop connected to your ECU.

EGR is not EGT, FYI.

Again, EGR is not EGT so this statement is incorrect. Evo's do not have a EGT sensor from the factory. EGR is a emissions device that is on the intake manifold and is not used for tuning in the same regard as EGT. A EGT sensor is usually installed on the exhaust manifold to read the exhaust temp coming out of the head exhaust ports.

You're right. I was thinking EGT. But isn't the EGR reading a temperature?

Nevermind on the question. While fixing myself a bowl of Cheerios I remembered that the EGR has to do with recirculating exhaust back into the engine for emissions reasons or something like that.

Correct and it does not operate at idle or WOT, only cruise.

I agree that knock sums can change depending on season....just as different fuels can sometimes affect it. The thing is, I am running the exact same octane, exact same fuel, exact same fill up station, nearly identical temperatures, and no adjustment made to the boost controller from the day I had my car tuned at GST. In fact, as previously stated, I was not even in boost when my AP said my car had a knock of 22. I was cruising at about 60mph....not accelerating at all. Ever since my tune, my AP has NEVER indicated a knock count higher than 3 and that was when the car was cold. The only time I ever had a knock count that high was when I tried running the off-the-shelf stage 2 91 octane map and it said I had a knock count of 10. Sorry, but I honestly don't believe my car threw a knock count of 22, especially since same conditions, same driving style, same gas, same speeds produced no knock count prior to the update.

Could you bring back MPH?

Anyways - my experience as follows -

Baro @ %50, doesn't change

LIFT/STFT @ %25, doesn't change

Also target idle is @ 796, doesn't change

Knock from 0 - 10, definitely sensitive to atmospheric conditions - it's cool, it knocks less. Most of the time not at all. Previously knocked from 0 - 6, most of the time it never knocked above 2, unless it was hot out. The way I percieve it to be so far (and my senses may just be fooling me..) is that the variable knock frequency counter, along with the higher readings seem to indicate a more sensitive calibration. Maybe the intial calibration for the Knocksum was a little off?

Not sure, but that's the way I percieve it.
