Factory Warranty?

If I get the AP and keep my car stock or maybe a cat back. will a dealer void my Warranty or be able to tell that I am flashing my PCM? Very interested in the Fuel economy function of the AP for road trips! but do not want to void my Factory Warranty.

If they find out, yes.
If they want to for the exhaust, yes.
Will they find out, no. That's why you get the AP.

One of my best friends works for mitsu service. He claims that they can tell if the stock parameters have been changed on the ECU at all. Even if it was been reset etc.

The advice to heed if you are concerned about the warranty is still: keep it stock. Unfortunately its the trade off.

If you buy the accessport, and change the stock parameters of your ECU (ie reflash it in anyway) they can tell that they have been changed, even if you go back to stock parameters, or reset the ECU. This is only what I have been told, and I have not confirmed this myself, but I bet someone on these boards can one way or another.

In other words, they can tell you've been reflashed and may void your warranty consequently. I've heard lots of people say "well just cite the magnasson moss act," which may or may not work for you. I would encourage you to take a look at the warranty thread and decide if you want to roll the dice. I am holding off for the next little bit myself, simply because I cannot afford to fix something at this point of it breaks.

According the WORKS and their write up on ECU controlled boost (once again according to WORKS) most dealers wouldn't take the time or have the know how to dig real deep into the ecu to see if had been changed let alone if it was flashed back to stock readings.

Then again they want to sell stuff so they may be fibbers

From my buddy (service writer at the mitsu dealership) for nearly all warranty work they plug into the ECU right away - *parameters changed* pops up, bye bye warranty. For engine/drivetrain work at least.

That is very interesting....I don't doubt it...but WORKS and others have claimed for a long time if settings are put back to stock they would no way of knowing...........................although I think this is a mute point....allot of guys get their warranty claims denied just because of springs, cat back exhausts, etc. ect.

I basically bank on the fact that when I threw money into my car the warranty went out the window

And thats the way to approach it frankly. Mod your car, don't expect any warranty work from mitsu. I/CBE and you may be ok. I'm not saying its right or wrong, I'm just quoting what I hear from a mitsu service writer directly. Please don't take what I say as being gospel because all of this stuff can change from dealership to dealership.

Here's what I've been told and its been broken down in a very simple basic way: imagine your car has what would be similar to a "black box" on an airplane (but its just a part of the ECU). You can reset the ecu etc, you can change the parameters. It may not store the changes but it will still indicate that they have been modified. That is enough for some "eager" service people to tell you, "sorry." They can tell if the ECU has been reset, they can tell if the parameters have been changed prior to that reset.

I got an update from a one of the mechanics that works there after a few beers. They can tell if stuffs been changed if they want to look. Most wont take the time unless a warranty claim has been filed and Mitsu tells them they need to look. So....Roll the dice I guess.
