Ralliart Suspension Upgrade

So, here goes: My next big undertaking for the Ralliart will be a new set of Shocks and Struts. I have decided to go with Koni adjustable dampeners, as the guys at Koni have agreed to develop a set of components for the Ralliart. This is not going to be a simple re-valve hack-job. The internal components of the stock pieces are going to be completely removed and everything is going to be redesigned.

I have no clue what the price is going to be for this upgrade, yet. It will be competitive, though. I will keep this thread updated over the coming weeks as progress is made. I hope to dial-in this upgrade as much as possible to create the ultimate suspension package. It sucks that no-one makes aftermarket shocks and struts for this car. That is about to change.

Koni makes solid struts. Hopefully they have them listed around $500.

I should know more regarding price as soon as they take a look at the components. Hopefully, this won't be something that breaks the bank.

Ultimately, wouldn't it still be cheaper just to get basic coilover's?

You get what you pay for as far as that is concerned. These will be higher quality.

Agreed. Are the struts/shocks going to work in conjonction with the OEM springs and aftermarket springs? I plan on putting Swift springs on shortly...

I no longer have OEM springs. I have RRM G.R.I.P. springs. These will work with either, but I have to figure out just how much stiffer the springs to be used with these should be in order to maximize the benefit.

From personal experience, I wouldn't go any lower than 6K (8-10 is best) when contemplating valving. The car is way too heavy to use spring rate less than 6K IMO

I will figure that out soon enough. Thanks for the input, though.

I'm nearly certain that none of the available ~drop springs~ will have spring rates higher than 1.5k lbs/in
