Run E85 with stock injectors, evo9 turbo, and Aeromotive FPR ?

Hey guys,

I got a Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator from a friend. I'm still on stock injectors with a Walbro 255. When I switch to E85, do you guys think I could get away running the stock injectors but just raise the fuel pressure to the stock injectors with the FPR? This will be on a evo 9 turbo. The car also has cams and AEM EMS. What do you guys think? I don't want to have to buy injectors if I don't have to. Thanks

Fred

Since your doing the tune also you might as well do it the right way now or your just going to be spending 2x as much to retune the bigger injectors later. Your also going to run out of IDC of the stock injectors on e85 extremely fast!

We're tuning the car ourselves so we don't have to worry about having to re-tune later for injectors.

I think it's best if you get larger injectors.

You don't need bigger injectors just turn the boost down to about 12 PSI.

You need bigger injectors regardless unless you plan on making anything less then 350awhp.

You will run out of injectors quick. On stock injectors, duty cycle will be 100% very quickly when you are tuning.

Or you can keep the RPM's under 3k.

Seriously, I'm in the same boat. I just purchased FIC 1100 Hz injectors and will be getting a fuel pump this week. I thought I could raise the fuel pressure with e85 and be fine for awhile, but changed my mind after a lot of research and logging my set up on 91 octane. I'm already running out of injectors at around 5500 RPM's. With e85 needing @ 30% more fuel I'd be hurting for new injectors immediately!

Is this on the stock turbo? If so, at what boost level? This doesn't sound quite right. What exactly are IDC's on 91 and at what boost level are we talking?

You should be fine with the 1100's on pump gas with a stock turbo and a 255 LPH pump. I don't know about on Ethanol though whether the 1100's will be enough.

forget the injectors man, sounds like u already made your mind up op....but when your only making 280 hp 290 tq on a virtual dyno, and your idcs are 95% at 6000 rpms, do me a favor and kick yourself in the *** good, or have the guy holding the laptop do it....haha, but on the real dont be stupid listen to the advice given, or dont ask the question. Injectors are not hard to install, if taken the right information in, to set them up on your EMS shouldnt be hard. you do it right you can possibly make 400hp, you do it wrong youll have a pos e85 tune thats not over 300 hp. do it right or dont do it at all.

You can max out the injectors on pump gas... E85 won't happen.

Buy injectors.

OK since Im having a similar issue I might as well ask and hear what you guys have to say.
I have an evo 9 stock Turbo, stock internals with stock cams. My bolt on list is as follows:
BR throttle body/65mm, BR ported stocker IM and EM, MBC, injen intake with upper and lower
ICP, 3.5" IC core, MR O2 housing, TBE and a walbro 255 FP.
I still haven't tuned the car because now I wanna convert to E85 but I have no idea what
Other mods or parts I need to get. I do know I need bigger injectors but what size exactly and
What are a good trusted brand. What else would I need besides injectors? Some advice and
Opinions would be highly appreciated. Thanks fellas!

interesting combo.. AEM ECU and stock injectors.. your question to will you need larger injectors is NO you wont need them.. Youll make as much HP as possible with the added base pressure.. when you reach that point you can answer your own question.. " am i happy with the HP i made on the stock injectors ".. Yes or no..
