replacing water pump?
i suspect my water pump is leaking, but i can't really tell. there is a VERY small leak on the passenger side that is collecting near the bottom of the crank pulley, then dropping on one of the oil cooler lines, and then finally, dripping on the floor. it is maybe one drop every 15-30min.
i have a 4g64 swap, so i'm assuming that there is a leak where the pump meets the block. i want to check and possibly re-gasket it. can i remove the water pump without removing the timing belt?

As far as I can remember you can remove the pump without pulling the belt itself. Even if you have to pull the belt it isn't a big deal. All the marks should be there to align the cams and crank. Just verify they are lined up before you pull the belt and ensure they are the same when you put it back on.
The pump itself can be leaking too. I replaced my original pump and the replacement started leaking around the shaft. Had to replace it again.

well, looks like i will be taking the car to english racing for the fix. they are going to install a modified oem water pump instead of using the adapter plate for my 4g64.

I wonder if the 4g64 water pump would line up with everything. I'm in the process of a 2.4 build and my water pump just went. It would be nice to know if I could get a 64 and all it a day.
