Catalytic Converter for 2003 Lancer OZ

Check engine came on and when my mechanic connected it to computer, it showed oxygen sensor before cat and we changed that. Week later it came back on, so now I am thinking it's probably Catalytic Converter. Any suggestions which one should I get? Also is it worth it to change the whole exhaust with some high flow cat, car is 100% stock.

I have full exhaust with cat from 2004 Subaru STI, this cannot fit on lancer, right?

there was a recall on the first cat converter...take it to the dealership and make sure they take care of the recall otherwise you are going to be wasting your money and time.

Are you sure it's the recall for 2003 lancer as I couldn't find info anywhere on the recall for the cat on this year

What they say is true. Just call up the dealer with your VIN and they can verify if the work has been done to address the situation.

Had a similar issue with my girlfriend's lancer. Except her's was a 2002 and they wouldn't honor the warranty on the cat.

if it is a recall just tell them that its a factory construction flaw and they should fix it also show them your recent purchases for any oxygen sensors or work done to it.

I think they won't do the recall after 100k so you might be out of luck with that.

Yup I can vouch. Long before going to turbo my 03 had the same issue. I took it up to the dealership and got a brand new cat and install free under warranty

I had this same problem, switched out the o2 sensor fixed my problem temporarily and then the cat went out. Turns out though that if you have over 100k on the car you are not eligible for the recall anymore. =/

I just called the dealership to check if there is any recall on my 2003 lancer oz and they said that there isn't any open recall on this vehicle, and I gave them the vin. So I guess I just have to replace the cat. Any brands that you recommend?

I don't think it's referred to as a "recall" per se. I think it's some kind of warranty extension on the service life of the part through some kind of technical bulletin from 80,000 miles standard emission to 100,000 miles. I've heard of people having trouble getting the service advistards to do the searching and calling to verify it. I think they have to input the service order for it to show up that it will be covered under warranty. I'd push them to do some calling around if they have to because people have had this covered or try another dealer if you have some around.

I fell outside mileage so had to replace. From rockauto.com, I used:
Front: Eastern cat #40674 @$350, came with all new bolts and gaskets
Rear cat: Bosal #0991817 @$148, no bolts and holes aren't threaded to reuse yours, did have gaskets
Not endorsing these one way or another as great parts, just saying they work and bolt right in for my 02 ES (except for having to buy a few bolts for the rear one)

Care to post up the info/source? I'm probably going to need to replace them on my brother's Galant soon. I'll order it from where you're getting it.
