Silicone spray to prevent rubber cracking?

Folks,

Has anyone heard about using Silicone spray to prevent rubber cracking or deterioration for preventative maintenance? A friend suggested that I spray down all rubber components (CV boots, radiator hoses, engine mounts, etc) with a 100% silicone spray to prevent rubber from cracking or deteriorating in very hot temperatures like in Phoenix, AZ. Phoenix in the summer can reach temps as high as 110 F or more.

Has anyone tried this with success? If so, what brand Silicone spray is recommended?

If this thread/topic has been discussed before, please include link.

Thanks

I use it on my rubber parts a few times a yr. It helps keep it in good condition and also gives it a very nice shine

Thanks EvoVIII03.

I am assuming 100% silicone spray is best...what brand do you recommend/use?

I see from my local Walmart that there is Prestone Silicone spray but I cannot confirm if its 100% silicone.

Much appreciated.

I have also heard if ppl spraying wd-40 under there hoods etc to clean things and keep them in good condition. It also disipates any water that gets in anywhere that you don't want it. I've never used it for those purposes personally though
